Mind

• The mind sits behind the eyes

• Thoughts from two places Atam or Kall

• In this class we will only cover Kall

– Surti- a combination of consciousness and

concentration. Our surti is in the Pavan and when

its imbalanced we get Rago and Tamo thoughts.

– Budi is our intellect and helps us make decisions.

– Mat- is the way you learn to implement a decision

; usually the way you were taught.

preform their function.

– Rivers of Fire

Farm-Hands

• The body is the Farm

• The seed has been planted how we nourish it is the

question.

– Farm hands make sure that the day to day running of

a farm goes as smoothly as possible. They help the

farmer manage the different areas of the farm and are

responsible for performing numerous tasks

throughout a typical working day. Farm hands also

maintain this machinery, cleaning it regularly and

fixing it if necessary. They are also responsible for

maintaining the condition of the physical buildings of

the farm. Farm hands will be expected to help farmers

minimize the impact of the unpredictable nature of

farming upon their business and help mange the farm

through various seasons. (Taken from a really

description.)

The body is a village, and the soul is the owner and

farmer; the five farm-hands live there.

The eyes, nose, ears, tongue and sensory organs of touch do not obey any

order. ||1||O father, now I shall not live in this village. The accountants

summoned Chitar and Gupat, to ask for an account of each and every

moment. ||1||Pause||When the Righteous Judge of Dharma calls for

my account, there shall be a very heavy balance against

me. The five farm-hands shall then run away,

and the bailiff shall arrest the soul. ||2||1104

These Dhuts are know as Thieves or Thugs. When you don’t know how to protect yourself they steal food for your mind and your breath.

• Raj, Jat, Joebun, Roop, Mall.

• Power, Cast, Youth, Beauty, and Wealth

– Would you ever love someone who beat you up

and stole all your wealth

– If you had to be around them would you be reckless with your treasure?

– If your Parents gave you money would you spend it they way they recommended or the way that you would want?

Rivers of Fire

Your breath flows out like a river and your

surit attached to that breath always goes in

to fire.

These 4 rivers make up the Bik Sagar

(Ocean of Posion).

– Huns- Cruelty

– Hath- Material Attachment (in love w/

something)

– Lob- Greed

– Kop- Anger

Page 17: Week 6 - Merging in to the Pavan

attachment, greed and anger are the

four rivers of fire. Falling into them,

one is burned, O Nanak! One is
