“Cartoon characters can be made out of many shapes. They don’t have to be perfect. As long as they have a few things in the

design to show what you want to achieve, it’s completely fine.”

“...And the coolest thing of all is that you don’t need to create more shapes to make new bears. I just used the same square and then added a few changes, such as different faces, different accessories and different colours. Now I have a whole series of bears for my comic book stories!”

Let’s study the following example below.

We all know that bears are not square. But what if we want to create a square bear? Let’s give it a go!

2. Let’s add some details such as ears and feet. Note that the ears are also “simple shapes” similar to round cornerd triangles.

3. Then add a couple of circles and other simple shapes to create the face.

4. Notice that for the final touch, I have rounded the main square shape used for the body.
