Principals report Week 2 term 1 2020
Great things have been happening this week- lots of engaging lessons and meaningful learning has occurred. Year 11 students have settled into senior school and are developing the much needed independent study skills. We have facilitated for the first time that they cannot be absent from school when they have late starts or early finishes due to study periods. These study peri-ods will be spent in the library where students have been given activities and homework tasks to complete. This will ensure that all students are capable of independent work that will be essential for their success in the HSC.
We have a number of events taking place that parents and carers need to be aware of. We are presenting a presentation on Google classroom, a software suite used by the school to provide online learning opportunities. We had re-ceived feedback last year that parents were trying to help their children but as they had no understanding of how the Google classroom worked, they were unable to do so. So this presentation will mean that parents can assist their children with homework and assignments that need to be completed online. The event, which has been advertised on Face Book and has been on the calendar, is occurring on Tuesday 11th February 2020 at Pitt Town and Dis-tricts Sports Club from 6.30-7.30pm.

On Tuesday 18th February we are hosting our annual Open Night from 5-7.30pm. This night welcomes any members of the community to come and see the great things that are happening at Windsor High School. Fac-ulties have displays and our students take the visitors on a tour of all areas. So if you have friends or neigh-bours who don’t believe how wonderful Windsor high School is, please invite them to turn up on the night. Any parent who has yet to see the facilities are also welcome to attend. On Tuesday 25th November at 5pm we are hosting a Year 7 Welcome Sausage Sizzle for all parents and stu-dents in Year 7. Teachers of Year 7 will be present and parents will get the chance to meet them, as well as other parents new to the school. Our P and C (Parents and Citizens) meeting will take at the end of the BBQ so parents are welcome to stay and experience a meeting so they hopefully decide to join our P and C. Our sports assembly is a highlight for our students where they get to choose their sports captains and learn their sport house chant. The assembly was full of enthusiasm and the chants were very loud! The sports cap-tains will play a major role in the school’s upcoming swimming carnival.
