Principal’s Reflection
Dear Families,
It is great to see that our students have settled in and are ready for what will be a busy term. The enthusiasm and joy
that the children bring to a new term is testament to the support that families place on their child’s learning & faith
journey. We extend a special welcome to our new students Stella, Indianna, and Mikayla O’Donnell and James and
George Kennedy and their families and hope that their time at Holy Spirit School is rich in achievements and friend-
ships. A calendar for parents is included in this newsletter so that you can keep up with school events.
We are in the process of re-landscaping our school front garden so that it is appealing and full of colourful plants. We are seeking donations of any of
the following plant types in any size:
Murrayas Crotons Snowflake Hibiscus Lomandra
We plan to start planting at the end of next week.
This term at school we are also endeavouring to collect recyclable containers to raise money to purchase new plants for the school gardens. We are
seeking clean plastic drink containers, drink cans and poppers from home (No glass please). Recyclables can be brought to school and
placed in the school trailer located in the courtyard. The program is beginning coordinated by our Yr. 6 student leaders and Mrs. Baylis.
Let’s see how quickly we can fill the trailer!
Over the holiday break we had large numbers of our students attend the action packed Vacation Care program here at school. Well done to
Mrs. Cherry, Miss Bronwyn and the Vacation Care Team for providing excellent excursions, magic shows, face painting and bike education. The
students have told me they had an excellent time.
On Tuesday 26th April (Week 3), we will be acknowledging ANZAC Day with a school service commencing at 8:20am. We encourage members of
our wider community who are serving or have served Australia in our Defence Forces, including Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, other family mem-
bers or friends, to attend our special Anzac Day liturgy and to join us for some morning tea after the Liturgy. Members are encouraged to wear medals
and uniforms. Extended family members or friends who currently serve in the Defence Force, Police Force or Fire Department are also encouraged to
come along in uniform as our school community commemorates this very significant occasion.
God bless you all and keep you safe,
Mr. Simon Duffy

LOOKING THROUGH THE WINDOW Year 5/6 - Leadership Breakfast
The Year 5 and 6 students were extremely lucky to have Charlie
Manolis as the guest speaker at our Leadership Breakfast at the
end of last term. Students found out about Charlie's work and
his contributions to our community as a leader in his field of
expertise - Crocodiles! He spoke to the students about how he
came to be where he is today, what his work involves and what
makes a good leader. He also brought in some baby crocodiles
for students to have a look at and hold.
We would like to thank Charlie for donating his time to us and
sharing his experiences. We certainly learned a great deal.
NETBALL GALA DAY On the last day of Term 1 some of our students attended the
Netball Gala Day. Most of our team had never played before,
but by the last game they were playing like professionals! Con-
sidering they were competing in Pool A - Division 1, they held
their own and defended extremely well. Although not successful
in winning a place in the competition, our girls must be congrat-
ulated on their fantastic sportsmanship and for keeping their
spirits up throughout the day. This was mentioned at the ended
of the day by the coordinator of the event. Thank you to Kylie
Kavanagh who assisted throughout the day. Well done girls!
