Your race package includes:• Helmet stickers (3x)• Bike sticker (1x)• Body decals (4x) – both arms and both legs
Accreditation pass: gives access to the athlete’s lounge on race day
Transportation
Elite Familiarisation – Thursday 7th March - Shuttles will be arranged from official hotels to the race village departing 1hr before the familiarisation at 9:30am. Return shuttles from the race village to the official hotels will run from 12:30-13:00
Race Day – Friday 8 March - Shuttles will be arranged from official hotels to the race village departing 11:30. Return shuttles from the race village to the official hotels will run from the end of the event

Check-in Procedures
Athletes’ Lounge
• Uniform and gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers, race
caps) – photos will be taken of each uniform.
Wearing a different uniform during the race = DSQ
• Body marking check (both arms and both legs, 33 vs )
• Swim cap distribution
• Athletes wishing to wear a swim cap under the ITU cap must bring it for
inspection at this check in
• (NOTE: only plain non-branded caps allowed)
• Timing chip distribution (2 timing chips, one for each ankle)
Check-in Procedures
Bike EquipmentApproval for any addition/modification of equipment to the bike,
MUST be obtained from the Head Referee up to 10 minutes after
the end of the Athletes’ Briefing.
A Bike Mechanic will be available during check in.

Transition Area
• Helmet on bike – Ensure it is unfastened in transition.
• Glasses on bike
• Water bottles on bike
• Running shoes go outside your box
• Return your non-competition gear to the Athletes’ Lounge (use your
numbered bag drop sticker)
These bags will be moved into the recovery area (Men)
Check-in Procedures
Athletes’ Introduction
• 25 minutes before the start, you will be called from the Athletes Lounge, to go to
the prestart area under the Yas hotel (approx. 10 minutes walk)
• Alternatively you can swim across
• This athletes area will have water, chairs, etc.;
• Leave any clothing etc in the numbered bags
These will be taken to the athletes lounge/recovery area
• INTRODUCTION
• When you are introduced, jog onto the swim start platform
• Quickly select your start position
• After selecting your position, stay behind the line
Blocking more than one position = DSQ

• The start can be given any time after the Head Referee announces “On
Your Mark!”
• Electronic Horn Blast
• The race starts
• Athletes not moving forward from the start line = 10 second penalty in
TA1
Start Procedure
False start with many athletes
• Several horn blasts
• Kayaks move in front of you
• Everyone goes back to his/her original start spot
Valid start with early starters• If a few athletes start before the horn and everyone else starts with the
horn, the false starter(s) will receive a 10 second penalty in TA1. During
the time penalty, the athlete(s) many NOT touch any equipment.

• Non Wetsuit swim
• Distance to first turn buoy (orange) at 370m; keep on left shoulder
• Keep remaining orange buoys on your left shoulder and red buoys on
your right shoulder
• Swim behaviour will be closely monitored
• Take swim cap and goggles to transition and place in your box

but can be racked by either of the wheels in 2nd transition

of F1 course and going through the venue
• Two Wheel Stations

• Neutral WS at 2km inside F1 course (no disc brake wheels)
• Littering zones for the bike, after the neutral wheel station
• Lap Counter: at the end of the Transition Area
• Lapped athletes will be removed from the race.
• Last bike / first runner scenario can occur at the exit of F1 course

• The Run Penalty Box is for infringements in Swim, TA1, TA2 or Run Course
• Location: At the end of the drag strip on the right hand side just before entering the venue
• Information: White board to show race numbers and letters to indicate violations
(Athletes need to read the board – coaches are advised to check and inform their athletes)
Procedure: 10 seconds time penalty served on any lap of the run
Penalties must be posted prior to the last lap on the run. Any penalties following that point will be servedon the spot.
Athletes have the option to decide whether to stop at the penalty box and serve the penalty or continueto the finish. Not stopping will result in DSQ on crossing the finish line. The athlete may then appeal thepenalty. Evidence will only be made available if an appeal is filed.

Mixed Team Relay Briefing
Team Declaration
Team Coaches - Please declare your team members (up to 6 including 2
reserves, 3 men & 3 women) when collecting your race pack after this Briefing
If not made today declaration must be made to the Head Referee on Friday 9th
between 18:00 to 18:30
Teams not submitting a declaration form before 18:30 on Friday 8th will be
removed from the start list

Athletes B,C,D will line up by the dismount line in transition in
front of the Grandstand
Please ensure you exit the swim warm up in the correct place
Each Team will be introduced together (A then B,C,D)

same way as for the Sprint race

• If the contact occurs unintentionally outside the relay zone,
the team will get a 10 second penalty.

For ceremony awards, please dress up with race uniform (or country uniform) Ambush
marketing rules apply.
Race caps/visors are allowed at the podium
Ambush marketing is defined as:
“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire
additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.”
Please follow the ambush marketing rule
The consequence for this behavior is: (if applicable)
The athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event.

• Coaches wristbands will only be distributed to those coaches who’s
National Federations registered them through the on-line system
• They will have access to:
• The Athletes’ Lounge and Post-recovery Area
• Behind the start area
• Next to the swim exit
• Media lane (in front grandstands)
Coaches’ Areas
Measurement of the course
• One coach per NF can have access to the elite run course between 15:15 and 15:50 on Friday for measuring the Sprint course, escorted by the Chief Run Official
• Meet at the Elite athletes’ lounge by 15:05 on Friday
• Mixed Relay TBC on Saturday• Meet at athletes lounge on Saturday
• Vests will be provided by the LOC.
• Registration is immediately after this Briefing at the coaches’ accreditation desk.
• There will be no warming up on the bike course as the roads will be in use
for other events / logistics purposes
• Prize money will be wire transferred to the athletes by ITU following the
event.
