Wednesday, 4th November 2015 Newsle9er - Week Four, Term Four 2015 David Benne* MP Last week we had a visit from MP David Benne9. David has been a regular visitor to school events over the years which has been greatly appreciated. During his visit David visited classes, walked around the school grounds and spoke to staff. He was very impressed with the changes he saw to the school and class environments, and the vision of the school moving ahead. Term Four Dates Term Four is always a busy term! There are a number of events that we would love our families and friends to a9end. Please see below, and if you have any queries contact the school office. • Helpers Morning Tea - Thursday, 26th November at 10.30am. • Cultural Evening - Thursday, 10th December at Hillcrest High School (Morrison Theatre). from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. • End of Year CelebraYon - Monday, 14th December. • School AthleYcs Days - Wednesday, 25th November (Seniors), Thursday, 26th November (Juniors). • Farewells - To be confirmed. An Example of our Dimensions in Ac<on Earlier this year we had the pleasure of having Dan Carter visit Silverdale Normal. At the Yme of his visit he was just coming back from a long injury break, one of many for him over the last couple of years. At that stage being named in the All Blacks for the World Cup wasn’t even certain. During the weekend Carter was named ‘man of the match’ in a World Cup winning performance. This result didn’t just happen….. and stories like this that involve people in our school community occur frequently. Take the Yme to speak to your child about some of the values and acYons that help lead to success. Using our Silverdale Normal Puzzle Pieces helps to create a shared language between home and school. It also helps our learners realise that learning is something they are in charge of…. not something done to them. AtthisYmeoftheyearthe lostpropertyaccumulates quickly when children leave socks, shoes and sweatshirts in the playgroundduringmorningteaandlunchbreaks. Allunclaimedclothingattheendofthetermwillbesenttocharity.
