Dear Families,      

Last Thursday we listened to 17 Year 5 students present their 2016 leadership 

speeches. All of the students presented their speeches proudly and it was great 

to  see  such  high  quality  presenta ons.    They  have definitely made  it  a  very 

difficult decision  to pick  just  8!  Fortunately  there  are  a  variety  of  addi onal 

roles at the school that these quality students can take on in 2016. 

2016  Leaders  will  be  announced  at  Presenta on  Day  on  Thursday  10th 

December from 9.30am  in the school hall. Le ers for all award recipients will 

be finalised this Friday. As well as a variety of awards we will formally farewell 

Year 6 and have performances  from  the Concert Band, GSPS Live and all K‐2 

students. All parents and family members are invited to a end this event.  

Tomorrow our Year 6 students will have their Orienta on Day at Cardiff High 

School.  I wish  them  luck  on  this  adventure  and  I  hope  they  enjoy  the  visit. 

Mrs Fletcher and Mrs Gunn will also be there to support our students. 

On  Tuesday 8th December Cardiff High School will be hos ng a Music Night in 

their  school  hall.  Our wonderful  GSPS  Live  students  have  been  selected  to 

a end. Notes about this event will go out this week. 

The staff here at Garden Suburb Public School are so grateful for the wonderful 

volunteers  that contribute  to many aspects of school  life. To  thank all of our 

volunteers  we  are  hos ng  a  Volunteers  Morning  Tea  on  Wednesday  9th 

December at 11.10am in the school hall. If you have volunteered at the school 

this year you are invited to a end. I am looking forward to seeing you there! 

This Friday our P and C are hos ng a Christmas Disco from 4.30pm—7pm. Food 

will be available from 5pm. Please see separate note with more details. I hope 

to see you all there!

Binless Lunch Days Wednesday 

‘Binless lunches’ have become a weekly event since the start of Term 2. It has 

been wonderful to see many of our students bringing NO throwaway rubbish on 

these days. This makes our school playground a much cleaner environment.

LEGO ROBOTICS!! 

During Term 4, the Seals class has been par cipa ng in a range of shared learning experiences 

around robo cs and programming with the assistance our parent expert Mr Dijkgraaf who has 

been volunteering his  me on a weekly basis. Students have been deeply engaged with all aspects of 

designing, construc ng, tes ng and improving their models in order to meet a range of challenges. 

Students have worked in teams towards the main goal of crea ng their own Sumobots and are close 

to having their robots ba le in the ring.
