Introduction to the Rental of Hanover Tavern

Hanover Tavern is of national importance, serving as host to founding fathers and numerous events that shaped the history of America. The Tavern is listed on the Virginia and National Register of Historic Places as a contributing structure to the Hanover Courthouse Historic District, a rare surviving example of government

buildings, once common in Virginia. Today, Hanover Tavern stands fully restored; a historic site worthy of hosting your most important event.

For weddings, rehearsal dinners, and meetings, this venue provides top-of-the-line service. Every detail is important to us. The food is outstanding and the setting, here

in the center of history, is as breathtaking as it was in the 18th century.

Available Rental Spaces

� The Washington Room features a brick fireplace with dimensions of 21 feet by 18 feet. This room is perfect for a meeting or small dinner party.

� A graceful arched wood molding defines the Arch Room. Dating to 1822, this room features a brick fireplace, heart pine floors, and spans 20 foot by 24 foot.

� The elegantly rustic Taylor Room highlights a wood-beamed ceiling and rich warm tones. This cozy atmosphere can accommodate 50 seated guests, while

additional space may be utilized in the adjoining casual Pub. � The lovely glassed-in Veranda allows the sun to cascade year-round into this

light and airy space. This cheery porch can accommodate 45 people seated. This room is perfect for bridal luncheons, teas, and rehearsal dinners.

� The Bradley Theater has been the Hanover home to Virginia Repertory Theatre (formerly Barksdale) since 1953. This nationally acclaimed

professional theater group still performs on-site today and is considered one of the nation’s oldest dinner theaters. Today, this intimate theater holds 156 guests and may be rented on a limited basis, call for more information.

� The Coach House at Hanover Tavern was inspired by an early 19th century stable at nearby Hickory Hill Plantation in Hanover County. Award winning architect, Carlton Abbott, has designed a building with modern amenities

respectful of the historic site. The “stable-like” structure has appropriate roof-line, scale, and style to complement the existing Tavern structure. Offering more than 3,200 square feet of heated/cooled space, it has sliding doors that open to the porch and the beautiful lawn behind the Tavern. The Coach House features a catering area, restrooms, and exposed post and beam construction as well as a dance floor and built-in audio-visual system.



Hanover Tavern Facility Rental Options Thank you for considering Hanover Tavern for your upcoming event. We have a

variety of rental options ranging from unique historical rooms to a newly constructed Coach House and brick terrace. All rooms are fantastic for wedding receptions,

rehearsal dinners, and even business meetings or presentations. The on-site theater may be used for unique wedding ceremonies and business presentations for as many as 150 guests. Behind the Tavern, the Coach House stands adjacent to a large brick terrace

and allows for outdoor events for up to 250 people. In addition, it is possible to reserve the entire Tavern for larger, more intimate events.

*Minimums may apply to food and beverage. If your event falls below the minimum, the difference will be added as a rental charge. Minimums vary based on time of day and day of the week, please inquire for more

details.

Receptions Include: � 6 hour rental includes one hour for setup, 4 hour event, & 1 hour for cleanup.

� Guests have facility for 4 hours. $500 per extra hour. � Fifteen 5ft round tables and 125 sturdy wooden folding chairs with padded seats to accompany round tables are available for use with Coach House rental. Additional tables and chairs for guest seating are provided based on the

room/space rented.

� Use of the venue’s china, flatware, and glassware, no additional rental required.

� Dance Floor available for rental ($260-$700)

� White linens for all tables and white linen napkins.

� Individual tables available for use as a cake, registration, DJ or gift table.

� Complimentary cake cutting service

Wedding Ceremony when added to Reception Package

� Ceremony Package Fee added to the reception location fee (above): $500.00

Wedding Ceremony Package includes:

� 60-minute rehearsal, prior to the wedding day. (Scheduled at the convenience of The Hanover Tavern Restaurant & Pub.)

� Waived room rental fee at The Hanover Tavern for rehearsal dinner.

� One additional hour of guest usage time.

� Usage of special Dressing Room for the bride and her attendants with a complimentary pitcher of Mimosas & hors d’oeuvres tray. There is also

dressing space available for the groom and his attendants.

� Usage of the Historic Courthouse and grounds directly across the street is an option for the ceremony. On your behalf, Hanover Tavern staff will

coordinate the booking of this facility based on availability.

� White, wooden padded folding chairs for seating up to 125 guests at ceremony.
