GovanBrown believes that every project should

open with a meticulously defi ned Planning Phase.

During this critical stage, we conduct preliminary

site inspections, create cost estimates, and prepare

bid packages and tenders tailored specifi cally to

your project requirements. This sets the founda-

tion on which a successful project is built and then

we assign a team of construction professionals to

manage each detail of the project from inception

to completion.

GovanBrown’s focus during the construction phase

is cost and schedule control, along with the coordi-

nation of trades via weekly site meetings. All critical

information is entered into CMiC, allowing key par-

ticipants to review the project schedule at any time.

We know the challenges of closing a job. To im-

prove this experience, we’ve created dedicated

closeout teams who will complete a defi ciency in-

spection with the project’s architect/designer, pre-

pare a report and manage all outstanding issues.

An operational record of the project is provided to

the client at closeout.

SAFETY FIRSTSAFETY FIRST

Safety is always paramount to any construction site,

which is why we provide health and safety training

for all our personnel and also why we employ a full

time safety supervisor. Our safety supervisor devel-

ops a detailed site-specifi c safety program for each

project which deals with all aspects of the project

from stakeholder training to public safety.

During the construction phase, he inspects the

project site on a regular basis to ensure that work

is being carried out in a safe manner for all stake-

holders.

GovanBrown has been an active participant in the

“Green Building” movement since 2005. Apart

from being the most active interiors construction

manager in building out LEED-CI space in the

GTA, we have also been enthusiastic supporters of

organizations such as the Canada Green Building

Council.

As we shift toward a greener, more sustainable soci-

ety, adhering to LEED standards becomes increas-

ingly important.

Today we continue to add to our number of LEED

AP staff to retain our leadership role in this impor-

tant area. We understand the processes required to

reach specifi c levels of LEED certifi cation, we have

the systems in place to manage these processes

and we have the resources at hand to carry out the

job effi ciently.

ous LEED projects and is a front-runner in the

management of environmentally viable construc-

handle medium to large-scale tenant fi t-ups, reno-

vations and relocations. Current projects range up

to 800,000 square feet.

We also work with landlords renovating lobbies,

food courts and common areas, and have devel-

oped a specialty for labs and data centres.

Ralph is one of the true vi-

sionaries in the construction

management industry and was

instrumental in developing the

construction management ap-

proach to commercial interiors

in the early 1980’s. In 1994,

after many years in the industry,

Ralph set out a blueprint for a

new type of construction man-

agement fi rm, and together with

John Brown, co-founded Govan-

Brown. At the fi rm, Ralph is re-

sponsible for project leadership,

business development, sales,

marketing and project team

leadership.

Ralph is a member of the Cana-

dian and Toronto Construction

Association, and is an affi liate

member of IFMA and ARIDO.

ment experience. Professional,

value-for-dollar engineering and

seamless project delivery.

Tony’s strength lies in bringing

together teams and managing

resources to effectively and ef-

lar projects to fruition. He has

achieved Gold Seal Certifi cation

in Construction Project Manage-
