COMMUNITY CARE by Mary Jo Van Winkle

Welcome to Fall, your Edgewater Club wants to remind every member of our community that we cele-

brate retirement and good health through activity and socialization with one another. You are encour-

aged to be aware of your friends and neighbors needs as it pertains to resources they may need to

maintain quality of life. Mobility is vital and a flag that there may be a need for resources for those in

our community who have been limited in their mobility. Driving, walking, or in a Mobile chair. Food

shopping, prescriptions, chores at home could be issues in need of support. Falls can change our life

in an instant; be careful and stay in touch with one another. 911 will bring help in an emergency and

211 will help you locate county resources that could support you in quality of life. The Edgewater club

office has information to help you with resources from the county, HOA board Presidents also have this

information. Feel free to bring up your concerns at meetings, sharing is caring and your Edgewater club

and community care. Donna Butland leads this community care team and Mary Jo Van Winkle is availa-

ble as needed to answer questions or concerns. Both are in the community phone book. Have a

healthy, happy season! Take care of one another, kindness makes our paradise what it needs to be.

A SALUTE TO OUR VETERANS

by Cheryl Miller and Nancy Fournier

To honor all our Military Veterans on Veteran’s Day, we will celebrate them

at the Clubhouse on November 11, 2019 with a special event and potluck

luncheon starting at 11:00 am. This event is open to all in our Edgewater

community. The Edgewater Club will furnish the sandwiches and a special

cake as well as table service. We ask that you bring a dish to pass (salads,

vegetables, relish tray, chips, etc.) along with your beverage of choice. If

you will be attending, please sign up on the sheet posted on the bulletin

board what you intend to bring and the number of people in your party, so

we know how many to plan for. Traditionally, this is an American holiday, but we welcome and encour-

age all Military Veterans to bring a photo of themselves with their name, branch and dates of service to

add to our Wall of Honor collage, when you return for the season. We will collect these until November

5th. Contact Cheryl Miller or Nancy Fournier if any questions.

BUNCO/POOL AEROBICS / POTLUCK DINNER by Lee Cavey

Summer has past and now it is fall; Bunco will now be held on the second and fourth Monday

evening of the month, at 6:00 pm, at the clubhouse; please wear your nametags and don’t be late.

Pool Aerobics is Monday through Friday 10 am to 11:00 am. A little reminder that on the first Monday

of the month, we have a luncheon after our class; bring a lunch to share from 11:00 am to 12:00

pm. A thank you to all the members who joined our potlucks this summer, from Lee Cavey, Collette

Carroll and Pat Shireman

THE RED HATTERS by Nana Ellis

Last Wednesday our trip over to Cracker Barrel was well worth it; the food was delicious and it is always

enjoyable to look around even if you don't purchase anything. Our next outing is going to be on Thurs-

day, October 17th at Snook Haven, as this is the only day that the strummers are there. We will be arriv-

ing at 11:00 a.m. Hope we will see some snowbirds joining us.

CRAZY BRIDGE by Pat Cameron

Sorry we missed the 4th Thursday of September due to Hall cleaning. But join us the 2nd and 4th Thurs-days of October (10th & 24th) at 1:00 p.m. Maybe we can dress up and add the 31st. (Halloween).

THE PAINT BRUSH BUNCH by Bonnie Shepherd

Classes will begin Monday, October 7th at 1:00 pm in the all-purpose room. We do not have a specific

project planned at this time. We will discuss projects for our upcoming season at our first class. If you

have an idea you'd like to share and are unable to attend, please share with Bonnie Shepherd, May

Miller, Vicky Badger, Joyce Rockefeller, Jo McKough or any other member who will be able to attend our

first meeting.

Craft Fair by Bonnie Shepherd

Save the date. The Craft Fair is Saturday, November 16th. Please leave this date open as we will

need help as well as shoppers. More information will be supplied in the November newsletter after

the committee meets.

2020 Fashion Show by Bonnie Shepherd

If you were on last years Fashion Show Committee and/or if you would like to discuss a plan for this

year, please join us on November 11th, at 3:00 pm in the all-purpose room. For further information

contact Bonnie Shepherd, 816-674-3975.

BROADWAY PALM DINNER THEATER by Bob and Pat Cameron

Please note the following changes: 1. GRUMPY OLD MEN, the date has been changed to January 9th

2020 and not January 16th 2020, so that the Panama Cruise people will not be left out. 2. The price per

person will be $80 rather than $89. I thought there was a $9 surcharge on two of the shows, but not

true for groups, so that is one perk we have!!! The first show on December 5th, 2019 will be SOUNDS

OF CHRISTMAS which will be a singing and dancing spectacular that only the Broadway Palm could put

on so well. Don’t miss it; it will get you in the Christmas spirit. January 9th , 2020 – GRUMPY OLD

MEN, the musical adaptation of the hilarious play starring Lemon and Matthau, a real treat. February

13th, 2020 – KINKY BOOTS, a newer musical with a sweet story of a man whose boot making business

is failing until a young attractive starlet needs a special pair of shoes for her dancing act. She approach-

es the boot maker and the love story begins. Remember the $80 covers bus transportation, a great

luncheon buffet, the play and all gratuities. Plus, a relaxing day

HAWAII CRUISE SEPTEMBER 2020 by Pat Cameron

10 NIGHTS ABOARD CELEBRITY’S SOLSTICE + 2 NIGHTS IN HONOLULU. There is still

space available for this cruise, two possible spaces at the published special pricing; Anne Soltis may be

able to get some more space. I can only give you limited information, so I suggest that you call Anne

at her direct line (941) 281-4015 or (800) 281-4015 ext. 613. The Solstice is a beautiful ship which is

part of the elite Celebrity Line. The ship is beautifully designed and the food is superb, above most oth-

er ships in quality. Plus, we will have two additional nights in Honolulu to enjoy the Pearl Harbor Exhi-

bition and other important sights in the city. Pat Cameron – 941 474 -4358

LEMON BAY ISLES PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION by Cheryl Miller

Wow… October is soon to arrive… the leaves are turning and falling here in Michigan; a sure sign that

many of our snowbirds will soon return to Lemon Bay Isles. A number of properties have sold over the

summer, please welcome new LBI friends and neighbors. As you return, please pay special attention to

your siding and eve troughs – the rain and summer heat may have added an unsightly green tinge to

your siding and small plants may be growing out of your eves. The weeds and trees may also need at-

tention. Our first POA meeting will be on November 20th, at 1:00 pm at the clubhouse. If you are new

to LBI or have not attended a meeting, please come and be heard, meet the Board and learn what is

happening in our community. Much of the summer, I have received calls regarding speeding in the

park, especially on Oriole. Please remember the speed limit is 25 mph throughout the park. Be safe

and well and enjoy Lemon Bay Isles, “our little piece of paradise”.

From Your Editors: October newsletters are available in the club library. Next Month, No-

vember, begins our home delivery of the newsletter to homes in Lemon Bay Isles and member homes

in Holiday Estates III. If you wish to volunteer to assist in this endeavor, please contact Collette Carroll

or Emma Craig. We would like to thank all of those who have helped us through the summer months

by writing news, printing copies for members and sending out the newsletter via email. It helps all of us

to keep up to date with our community. On a personal note, many thanks to all who send cards and

words of encouragement to me as I went through knee surgery. I am well on the road to recovery.

Looking forward to arriving in Englewood at the end of October. Margaret Bennett.
