As the newly selected principal of South Atlanta School of Law and Social Justice (LSJ), I am enthusiastic about working with the students, parents, faculty and staff, and community. My educational career has embraced many experiences as a mathematics teacher at D. M. Therrell High School and Instructional Coach and Assistant Principal at South Atlanta Educational Complex. I hold a T- 6 in Mathematics (6-12), Middle Grades Literacy and Reading Across the Curriculum from Georgia State University, and earned an Ed.S. in Instructional Technology from Valdosta State University. To further enhance my professional growth, I participated in the Superintendent’s Academy for Building Leaders in Education (SABLE). I am extremely passionate about children and the quality of education they receive; thus, I believe that educators must find a way to effectively teach each student. As principal of the School of Law and Social Justice, the faculty and staff will collaboratively focus on reversing the low graduation rate. Additionally, we will focus on ensuring that every student will be prepared to successfully matriculate into a post-secondary institution and complete a 4- yearcourse of study. Furthermore, we realize that ninth grade is a critical year for students. Hence, we are utilizing an innovative learning approach for them by embracing the framework of a Ninth Grade Learning Academy. Our goal is to effectively prepare ninth graders for success in high school and beyond by providing academic rigor, creating a sense of individual responsibility and a culture of respect. With the home-school-community partnership, our goals will be accomplished. I am truly humbled to embark upon this journey of educational excellence, and I look forward to greater academic accomplishments. With deep gratitude and elation, Charlotte Davis
