webMethods OneDataMulti-domain, master data managementFive solutions, one data management platform

webMethods OneData is a multi-domain, model-driven Master Data Management (MDM) solution that reconciles, cleanses and synchronizes enterprise master data for customers, products, locations—whatever category you choose.

OneData gives you “one version of truth.” Redundancies and errors are eliminated. Only reliable, accurate and approved enterprise information flows through your processes, systems and applications. Plus, with Software AG’s process-driven approach, you identify the right master data and control ongoing changes as well as consolidate, report and analyze your data.

With webMethods OneData, you get data your business can count on.

Key Benefits• Eliminate redundancies and errors by using a

true multi-domain MDM platform

• Consistent data is accessible everywhere—in-memory and via portlets, record links, cloud instances and mobile devices

• Improve operational efficiency, risk management and regulatory compliance

• Improve decision-making and forecasting with better data

• Manage data from mergers and acquisitions

• Count on a comprehensive governance process flow

FeaturesAnalysisSoftware AG pioneered the process-driven approach and methodology to analyze your data, processes and business rules. During the pre-MDM discovery phase, you can quickly and easily retrieve as well as consolidate, report and analyze metadata from current repositories by using OneData’s MetaMap features. You’ll gain a comprehensive and actionable view of the data.

Use our ARIS process analysis and modeling tools, combined with metadata analysis, to holistically define process and master data requirements. Resulting logical data definitions can be converted into a physical master data model used by OneData.

ModelingDefine your own data model or import an existing model from another tool or database. Once imported, your model will persist as-is in OneData‘s back-end and is open to access by other applications and software. Changes or extension to the model automatically update the user interface.

Build business objects from a collection of base objects, configure the user interface, and then build workflow rules and associate them to objects.

ReportingCreate and publish reports using the built-in reporting wizard. Since OneData’s repository is open and non-proprietary, you also can create reports using any third-party reporting tool. Customized reports on the metadata content, such as user/role allocations and workflow rules and associations, are also easy to produce.

Acquisition & deploymentImport and export data in a scalable way. A wizard helps you load structures and data from other applications or files, resolving and maintaining all dependencies during the import data process.

Deployment capabilities help you distribute repository contents to subscribing systems and quickly align all applications without any programming. Downstream systems are insulated from structure changes.

You can distribute contents via:

• Java® Message Service ( JMS)

• XML

• RESTful Web services

• Direct updates

• Email

• File transfer

RepositorywebMethods OneData provides three distinct database schemas:

• A metadata area

• An authoring area

• A release area

The metadata area stores internal metadata and application-related configuration settings for the user interface, user accounts and authorizations, and also workflow and process flow.

Both the authoring and release areas contain your data. Data creation and changes are performed in the authoring area. After workflow approval rules are met, changes are automatically moved to the release area.

All three database schemas are stored without any proprietary structures. This helps streamline integration with third-party tools.

Management

Count on a vast array of data management features to help you browse and maintain the repository contents, whether they are stored locally or in external databases. Those features include:

• Filter/search

• Add-copy-edit-delete-restore

• Multiple-column sort

• Import/export

• Print/email

You can also create and manage various types of business-critical hierarchical structures, such as self-recursive, network-recursive and “ragged” hierarchies.

OneData can easily become your enterprise information hub since you can manage your data in external databases and use many different integration options, publish/subscribe messaging and various distribution types, such as remote database updates, JMS, XML, Web services, SQL and text files. It can be a key component of your enterprise information integration initiatives and the authoritative source of all your enterprise’s non-transactional data.

Easy-to-use interfaceCreate and manage your master data easily via OneData’s browser-based interface. The interface hides the complexity of the underlying master data and technical details from your business users and presents this information in business terms.

The interface is metadata-driven and generated automatically by webMethods OneData based on the underlying data model. You can modify and fine-tune it easily based on business requirements. Changes to the data model are immediately reflected.

View data in multiple ways, such as tabular, hierarchical and graphical. You also can use OneData interface functions as a front-end for other external repositories.

Workflow and data governanceImplement effective governance using workflow rules that are configured and associated with webMethods OneData objects. You can configure rules to create approval routes based on specific events or event/attribute combinations. Create separate rules for inserts and deletes as well as at the column level to make updates.

Using the process flow feature, you can easily “drag and drop” to draw business workflow processes graphically. Prototype MDM processes rapidly with little change management required.

Change managementChoose from multiple versioning options—persistent version, temporal nodes and in-place snapshot—in the repository for the right approach based on your domain. All changes made to data and structures are recorded and maintained. Detailed audit logs based on object, user and time of change, for example, are available for reporting.

Granular, role-based securityControl object-level, column-level, row-level and even cell-level access to master data as well as who has access to what functionality. In addition, OneData provides support for external authentication via LDAP or Windows Active Directory as well as Single Sign-On (SSO).

Stewardship controls, change management, workflow and data quality are key components of webMethods OneData.

Automated workflow processes, change request forums and e-mail notifications are integrated with data changes to provide the right environment so business users can collaborate and count on ongoing data quality.

Master data exists in many applications and systems throughout an enterprise. webMethods OneData imports data from these varied systems and reconciles and cleanses it to eliminate redundancy and errors. The master data is then organized and governed through automated workflow. Change management capabilities ensure approval processes are in place to maintain “one version of truth“ for the data. Finally, OneData synchronizes and deploys the master data, ensuring consistent, accurate, reliable data is moving through your business processes and applications.
