Soccer Shots Parent,

Soccer Shots starts very soon! We look forward to a great session with all of the children! Please read the following information and pages for details regarding the season. It will include our weather policy and what you can expect this season to entail.

Sincerely,

Soccer Shots Fort Wayne

Our Weather Policy:

The safety of your child is at the forefront of everything we do. We follow weather guidelines and safety measures to ensure the safety of your child. We will notify you if a session needs to be rescheduled due to severe conditions such as low temperatures, heavy snow or ice. We will reschedule up to 2 sessions per season, anything after will be canceled. Any reschedule, cancellation or make-up will be communicated via text message, email and our Facebook page. If school is canceled at the school we play soccer at then the session that night is cancelled as well. You will still be notified as stated above.

Common questions and answers:

Q: Can we leave our child during public programs?

A: Children involved in public programs must have a parent on site at all times.

Q: What is included in the season?

A: Included in the season fee is multiple sessions coached by our knowledgeable staff and a Soccer Shots T-Shirt. Also included, at the end of the season will be a team photo and prize.

Q: What should my child wear for the Intro to Soccer and/or Developmental League play?

A: Children are not required to wear shin guards in the Intro to Soccer. Comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes should do the trick. However, for ages 5-8, we do recommended shin guards. All kids in the Dev. League are required to wear shin guards.

Q: What do I need to bring to each session?

A: There are water fountains, but you may want to bring your own.

3v3 or 4v4 Soccer Shots Developmental League Rules

Developmental Training

Developmental training geared toward team development and player development on a team will last for 12-15 minutes prior to each weeks game play.

Number of players per team:

A teams can have a maximum of 8 players – three field players and three substitutes or dependent on registration size 4 field players and 4 substitutes.

Game Duration

The games are 40 minutes long with a 5 minute half time. This breaks the games into two 20 minute halves. Whichever team starts with first half possession will not start with second half possession.

Substitution: Substitutions can be made on the fly.

Kick Offs / Kick Ins / Direct and Indirect Kicks / Penalty Kicks:

Kick Offs

May be kicked in any direction. You cannot score directly from a kick off. The kickoff is an indirect kick. A coin toss will decide team-kicking order. A kick off will take place after every scored goal.

Kick-ins

There should be no kick-ins unless the ball goes between the gym divider and its closest wall. If this happens we will revert to a goal kick.

Direct kicks

All dead-ball kicks are direct with the exception of any kick-offs. If a free kick is awarded within five yards of the opposing goal box, the ball can be moved back to five yards from the box. It is the referee’s discretion where the ball will be placed.

Goal kicks

The only goal kicks that will be awarded are in the case that the ball gets stopped in the goal box, if there is an infraction in front of the goal impairing a direct goal scoring opportunity, or when the ball goes out between the gym divider and closest wall. Outside of that, the ball should bounce directly back into play off of the surrounding walls. If a goal kick is awarded the kick is direct.

Penalty kicks

Shall be awarded if, in the referee’s opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by an infraction. Penalty kicks are direct kicks taken from the center of the mid-line with all players (on both teams) behind the mid-line. Penalty kicks are dead ball infractions. If a goal is not scored, the defense obtains possession with a goal kick.

Five-Yard Rule

In all dead-ball situations, defending players must stand at least five yards away from the ball. If the defensive player’s goal is closer than five yards, the ball shall be played five yards from the goal box in line with the direction of play prior to the penalty.

Goal Keepers / Off-sides / Slide Tackling / Hand Ball Clarification:

There are no Goalkeepers in our league, we don’t play with offside and no slide tackling is allowed. If a player is sliding for the ball, contact with any player(s) from the other team is NOT ALLOWED. If a player slides and contact is initiated, a free kick shall be awarded. This does not prevent players from sliding to stop/intercept a ball where contact is not initiated during the slide. Example: a player may slide to save a ball from going out-of-bounds.

Hand Ball Clarification

Deliberate handling of the ball that denies a team of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity will result in the following: A penalty kick (at the discretion of the referee)

The Goal Box

There are no goalkeepers in our league. The goal box is marked in a half circle around the front of the goal. There is no ball contact allowed within the goal box, however, all players may pass through the goal box as long as they do not touch the ball while in the box. If the ball comes to a rest in the goal box, or on the goal box line, a goal kick is awarded regardless of who touched the ball last. Any part of the ball or player’s body on the line or inside the plane of the box is considered in the goal box and an extension of such. If a defensive player touches the ball after it has entered the goal box a penalty kick will be awarded to the offensive team. If an offensive player touches the ball after it has entered the goal box, a goal kick will be awarded to the defensive team. The referee’s judgment call and ruling on the field will not be overturned.
