n Music Music in the first term will focus on music from the 1980s including: ‘Don’t stop believin’ by Journey ‘Livin on a prayer’ by Bon Jovi ‘All Right Now’ by Free ‘Eye of the Tiger’ by Maths Our main focus for maths will be the development and re-enforcement of numbers skills, dividing, multiplying, subtracting and adding, both discretely and by applying in problem solving activities. We’ll also be taking problem solving further by practicing the skills of visualising and constructing calculations in the real world. Times tables and mental ENGLISH We will be basing our reading and writing on the book ‘George’s Secret Key to the Universe’. We will all be developing our spelling, grammar and punctuations skills alongside increasing our vocabulary and practicing the neatest handwriting. Fiction Writing: Eagles class will be reading the book mentioned above and planning their own adventure story based in Space. Non-Fiction: Pupils will use the knowledge they have gained from the topic to write a non- Art/DT Pupils will use a variety of artistic skills as they: -Make some 3d planets (to scale) -Describe and record observations of Nebulae (clouds of gas and dust in outer space) -Design, make and evaluate Computing Pupils will use technology to help them research, present and share their work. They will also be exploring the world of blogging as they set up their own pages, whilst all the time ensuring they behave safely and SMART online. History/Geography The topic for the term is ‘Space Explorers’ and is heavily science- based but the children will be learning scientific RE / PSHCE In RE pupils will discuss how God’s Promise and Covenant has links to Earth’s resources and Harvest. They will also be discovering what it means for Christians to believe that God is holy and loving. Science We will be exploring Space and the solar system. The task is to build a rocket that will deliver these supplies from Earth to the space Eagles 2018-2019 Active Children will be developing their gymnastic skills. This will include creating sequences and using apparatus. One of the children’s Active sessions will be Swimming at Henley Bank Pool. This will commence on Tuesday 11 th French Pupils will learn the French for classroom equipment, whether it is feminine or masculine, plural or possessive.

Music

Music in the first term will focus on music from the 1980s including:

Maths

Our main focus for maths will be the development and re-enforcement of

numbers skills, dividing, multiplying, subtracting and adding, both discretely and by applying in problem solving activities.

We’ll also be taking problem solving further by practicing the skills of

visualising and constructing calculations in the real world.

Times tables and mental maths will also continue to play a vital part in

the maths learning.

Finally, key roman numerals will be practiced.

ENGLISH

We will be basing our reading and writing on the book ‘George’s Secret

Key to the Universe’.

-Design, make and evaluate a new Mars Rover (an automated motor vehicle that propels itself across the surface

of the planet Mars upon arrival).

Computing

Pupils will use technology to help them research, present and share their work. They will also be exploring the world of blogging as they set up their own pages, whilst all the time ensuring they behave safely and SMART online.

History/Geography

The topic for the term is ‘Space Explorers’ and is

heavily science-based but the children will be learning

scientific events in History and writing a reports about an

event.

RE / PSHCE

In RE pupils will discuss how God’s Promise and Covenant has links to Earth’s resources and Harvest. They will also be discovering what it means for Christians to believe that God is holy and loving.

Pupils will learn all about the different planets, describing the movement of the Earth and other planets as well as explaining why we have day

and night.

Entry / Exit points:Entry point: The International Space Station is running out of vital supplies. The task is to build a rocket that will deliver these supplies from Earth to the space station.Exit point: an exhibition of all the work produced- families will be invited.

Eagles2018-2019

Active

Children will be developing their gymnastic skills. This

will include creating sequences and using

apparatus.

One of the children’s Active sessions will be Swimming at Henley Bank Pool. This will commence on Tuesday 11th September at last for 6

weeks.

There will be no Forest School until the Summer

term.

French

Pupils will learn the French for classroom equipment, whether it is feminine or masculine, plural or possessive. This will be taught by Mde Haines.
