1.Pre-stage Activity

Duration: 7min.

Teacher greets the class and asks their first plan after they graduate from the university to make them familiar with the subject. After teacher gets applying for jobs answer, teacher focuses on it. S/he mentions about procedures that required for applying for a job and begins to demonstrate some pictures related with the steps of getting a job. S/he asks students to number the pictures in an order by discussing in pairs. Then, teacher demonstrates by asking which picture comes first, second, etc. Teacher pays more attention to the last picture which is about job interview and asks what they are doing in the photo. After the students give the job interview answer, teacher asks what they know about the job interview. Teacher elicits essential vocabulary related to job interview and writes these words on board to make them brainstorm about the topic. If there are words that unknown by the learners, teacher will explain those words.

2.While-stage Activity

Duration: 20min.

After teacher activates prior knowledge about the subject, s/he offers to watch a video of job interview example. Teacher asks them to come up with some questions an employer might ask a job seeker and some questions a job seeker might ask an employer in pairs. Before watching, teacher writes some headlines on the board. She asks them to put them in an order according to the video by themselves.

Keywords: greeting, reasons for applying, background/ experiences, qualities, references of co-worker, working area, features of a good employee, thanking

After the first task is completed, the video is watched again to answer the questions in pair given by the teacher beforehand. Lastly, students are asked to discuss the questions as a whole class. Here is the list of the questions below:

1. Compare your questions with the ones in the interview. Are there same questions?

2. Which questions can be added to this interview? Why?

3. Which question is the most crucial one for getting hired? Why?

4. Which non-verbal communication skills can be seen in this interview?

5. Do you think whether she can get the job or not? Why?

3. Post-stage activity

Duration: 18 min.

After discussing the questions, teacher asks them to make a group of four. Students are asked to role play job interview. Each group is given different role cards including missions of each student. These missions are speaker, jury 1, jury 2 and applicant. The first groups applicant is English teacher in private school, the second is chef, the third one is waiter and the last one is secretary. Teacher gives ten minutes to complete the task. Juries are asked to prepare questions related with the experiences, references, school background etc. to the applicant as they did it in the video part. Moreover, they need to decide which qualities they are looking for. Applicant should be careful about her/his non-verbal communication skills during the interview.
