Over the years many teachers and support staff have worked at the school and contributed to the fabric of the school. Each in their own way will have contributed to the education and welfare of the many youngsters that have attended Roudwood. It is possible that you may wonder if your old teachers etc are still at school or what they are doing now.

The information is given in good faith and may not be current or wholly accurate in some cases!

Mr Bob Anderton Chemistry teacher . Left in the 1980s to be replaced by BMLS?

Miss Moira Andrews [93-98]. Another dynamic and enthusiastic PE teacher who specialised and introduced kaufball to the school. Left to progress her career in teaching.

Mr Nick Arnfield [93-96]. Head of Art. Left many years ago.

Miss Barbara Arnold [93-01]. Teacher of German. Left years ago.

Mr Steve Atkinson [92-97]. Formerly Head of Geography. Popular and always with a witty remark. Now lives up in Carlisle or thereabouts and still teaching Geography.

Dr Kathryn Bailey [89-96]. Formerly a teacher of chemistry, but moved to St Albans School where she remains teaching Biology.

Miss Suzy Baldwin [02-05]. Native New Zealander who joined as Head of Geography and led many successful field trips.

Miss Natalie Bamford [06-13] - PE teacher and KS3 Lead tutor . Immensely popular teacher despite playing hockey for luton Town!

Mrs Gabrielle [Gaye] Barrett Biology. 1974 to ? Left to have a family then returned to teaching at Sir John Lawes where she became Head of Sixth Form. Now retired but still living locally.

Ms Sally Baust. Dynamic PE teacher during HB Lukes time who championed hockey. Got married and moved away to another teaching post many years ago.

Mrs Sue Baxter [1990s]. Always cheerful and most helpful Laboratory Technician in the Science Dept in the days of Curran et al.

Mr Roger Beard. The PE master always seen with a clip board and never with a pen! Served during the time of HB Luke and long since moved to another teaching post. Now works for an examination board.

Mrs Sue Beattie Biology teacher . Left 1975?

Ms Liz Berdinner English. 1975 to ? The one to ask about accurate punctuation! Left to teach elsewhere.

Mrs Lesley Beuscher [95-98]. A perfectionist who ran the school reprographics for a time before leaving to train and become a JMI teacher.

Mr Mark Bilsby [05-07]. Teacher of ICT and Sixth Form tutor. Moved to a post in Stevenage?

Ms Caroline Bister Biology. 1970s

Mr Howard Boycott [90-97]. Science & Physics teacher who left to take up a Head of Science post at another school in the county.

Mr Roy Bower [89-97]. Head of Modern Foreign Languages and teacher of French & German. Retired from teaching.

Mrs Shiela Brandreth [77-95]. Senior librarian for many years who did much to enhance and promote library facilities.

Mrs Jan Browell [85-02]. Teacher of English and Sixth Form tutor. Left many years ago.

Mrs Lilah Burr 1970s/80s. Wonderful laboratory technician in tandem with Molly Dymoke.

Mr Ian Burrows [84-99]. Senior Curriculum Manager, mathematician and star hockey player for WGC. Moved school to become a Deputy Head and probably beyond.

Mrs Pauline Bush (nee Prideaux) Head of Music. 1970s through to 1990s. Sadly died soon after retiring.

Ms Maria Caldwell Maths teacher . 1975/77

Mr Gary Calvert [00-02]. Teacher of Design & Technology. Keen on frogs. Left to advance his career at St Albans School.

Miss Jenny Carriage Geography teacher and also some General Studies during the 1970s. Australian exchange teacher swapped with Pauline Moxham.

Mrs Kaye Cartwright. Formerly in charge of Domestic Science/cooking/Home economics who left for promotion but has now retired from the profession but still lives in the county.

Mr Mike Chamberlain [03-04]. Mike taught Biology and was a sixth form tutor for a couple of years before returning, with his wife Angie, to his native Queensland in Australia.

Mr Steve Chaudoir Geography teacher in the 1970s. Became Head of Dept when Alec McCourty left. Steve went on to become a Headteacher down in Somerset. Started staff basketball team Roundwood Rowdies!

Mrs Barbara Chesney [93-07]. Long serving teacher of History and learning support who has sadly died.

Mrs Eva Childerstone [89-99]. Teacher of German who left to take up another position in a local school. Still lives in Herts.

Mr Eddie Clarke [84-04]. Another PE master of considerable experience and skill. An accomplished hockey player and manager in his spare time and now somewhere on the south coast.

Mr Harold Clayton. Former RE teacher and master of the assembly. A truly thoughtful and kind man. He retired some time in the mid 80s.

Ms Angela Clements Head of Languages 1970s. Left to go to private sector. Still lives locally.

Mr J Trevor Cole. A well liked and respected Geographer who eventually led the dept before leaving. He was a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher who was keen on surfing and other sporting pursuits. Now an active photographer living abroad.

Ms Margaret Clubley [ Mrs Longbone; 70-96]. PE teacher, Head of Sixth Form and examinations officer- perhaps not all at the same time but a long serving member of staff. No further details.

Mrs Pat Cole [89-00]. Teacher of English.

Mrs Mary Colman Needlework teacher . 1960s/70s/80s Also Head of Year. Retired to Welwyn village.

Ms Claire Collins [99-01]. Teacher of psychology who left to pursue Higher education in her home in the NE of England.

Ms Roz Connaughton French teacher in the 1970s.

Mr Archie Conway. Taught Science and Physics in the Passmore years. Not heard of since.

Mr David Cooke [87-89]. Biology teacher who was appointed to take over as Head of Science. Was a Sixth form tutor briefly. Resigned to move to another profession.

Mrs Gill Cowie [87-97]. Formerly Head of Domestic Science retired many years ago.

Dr Jane Crosland [06-08]. Teacher of chemistry who moved to become Head of Dept, in a Hertford school.

Mr Andy Cunningham [97-03]. Former Head Teacher who joined after Hayden Luke. He also taught Physics. Left to join HCC as an advisor and has since retired.

Mr Tom Curran [74-97]. Long standing Head of Chemistry and crossword fanatic. Immensely knowledgeable on just about everything, especially to do with chemistry, wine and food. He was a strong disciplinarian. Last heard of in the Balearics after retiring.

Mrs Gill Curtis. Popular physics teacher who left many years ago to take up a Head of Science post in another local school.

Mrs Veronique Cziborra [87-99]. Teacher of French. She left many years ago.

Dr Leighton Dann Biology teacher in the 1980s. Left to go into academia.

Mr Keith Darby Metalwork and TD teacher . Ex Navy man. 1970s/80s

Ms Helen David [97-00]. English teacher who moved to RPS to take up Head of Sixth Form [after Mrs Judy Munton ibid.] Immensely popular with everyone this English eccentric left after 3 years to take up another teaching post at a Grammar School in the wilds of North Yorkshire.

Mrs Fiona Davidson nee Caldicott English late 1970s. Left to have a family. Returned to work in primary sector inSt Albans. Now retired.

Mrs Anne Davies History teacher in the 1980s. Left to move toY ork where she became a Head of History and carried with her the tradition of WW1 Battlefield trips!

Mr Ivor Davis Science and Physics. Very long serving and dedicated colleague. Retired in 1980s? Died some years later.

Ms Carolyn Dowson [75-12]. Retired from the Art dept after very long service in summer 2012.

Mr Nick Daymond [04-10]. Headteacher after Andy Cunningham and before Alan Henshall [current HT]. A true linguist fluent in French and Italian and very popular with both staff and pupils. Committed to raise standards and care for the staff. Now Headteacher at Parmiter's in Garston.

Mrs Pat Dean [92-96]. Highly regarded teacher of English.

Mrs Jenny Desborough [97-11]. School bursar for many years. Left in October 2010 to take up another similar post in a private school in Stevenage.

Mr Phill Doyle [03-11]. Mr fix it from the IT support dept. who could always be relied upon to help with any IT problems. A regular helper on school trips and recently left to concentrate more on his musical production talents and abilities.

Mr Steve Draper. Former Head of History. Left in the 80s and not seen since.

Ms Janet Dunkley Maths teacher in the 1970s. One of the regulars at the staff bridge table.

Mr Toby Dussek. Joined the school as a young teacher of Physics during the Passmore era. Left for promotion at another school.

Mrs Molly Dymoke Lab Technician. Wonderful lady working in partnership with Leilah Burr. Carried on even when her husband was St Albans Mayor.

Gina Elliott [89-99]. Formerly personal secretary to both Haydon Luke and Andrew Cunningham before leaving to work and gain success in private industry.

Mrs Julia Emerson [04-11]. Year tutor and active Pastoral team member who left the profession for family commitments in 2010.

Mrs Svetlana Emelianova [04-05]. Science teacher for a short period. Not heard of since but thought to be in the locality.

Mr Chris Evans. Head of Maths and chief conspirator with the Head of Science [JD Passmore] at the time. Left many years ago and not heard of since.

Miss Maria Farrelly [01-04]. Moved away for promotion in 2004 and last heard of at Marriotts School as Head of Modern Foreign Languages.

Mr Ollie Faulder [06-09]. Popular PE teacher who moved to a Special Needs school in Bedfordshire.

Mrs Sybil Favager [75-09]. Formerly Head of Maths and then Premises Manager. A popular and no nonsense teacher with high standards.

Mr John Fells Metalwork and tireless Exams Officer. Also Head of Year. His attention to detail over exams was phenomenal.

Mr Ian Fisher [90-01]. A charismatic and enthusiastic History teacher and form tutor. He left many years ago and has long since sadly died.

Mrs Sue Fleckney [90-94]. Head of Modern Foreign Languages for a period. Moved to another school for promotion.

Mrs Avis Ford [85-08]. Maths teacher and ex-Examinations Officer. Retired from teaching but still lives locally.

Mr Nigel Fox. Formerly Head of Geography in the 80s who moved to gain Senior Management post somewhere.

Mr Arthur Foxwell First ever RPS Headteacher - from 1956 to 1976. Got the school up and running and ruled over everything!

Ms Fiona Frazer [02-04]. Married with two children, currently living and teaching inSouth Hertfordshire Responsible for building up GCSE and A-Level numbers in PE

Miss Laura French [2010-13]. Physics teacher .

Mr Steve French [2008-13]. Spanish and French teacher and Sixth Form tutor.

Ms Roz Garside English teacher in the 1970s.

Mr Connor Geraghty [91-12]. Joined from Francis Bacon School to teach English. Immensely popular and dynamic individual who was rarely without a word to say. Also taught Drama and took over as NUT rep from Ms Hood. Tragically Connor died in October 2012.

Mrs Lynne Gibbs [98-11]. Senior science technician who moved to join a number of our ex-staff at the St Albans school.

Mrs Rebecca Glover [00-02]. Ex Head of Sixth Form and PE teacher. Currently Deputy Head in a grammar school inYorkshire. A talented and dynamic individual with a great sense of humour. She has two children.

Mr Frank Glowotz. Member of the premises team. Friendly and amicable individual best known for his amazing guitar playing skills.

Mrs Jean Godden. Cookery/Domestic Science teacher.

Mr Stan Goodman [90-99]. An experienced and popular Economics teacher who was at the school in the 1990s.

Mrs Bernie Gordon [90-07]. Teacher of Maths and a real character who was always fair and straight with her pupils. She moved away with her husband to work in another school in southernEngland.

Mr Tony Goodwin [96-07]. Head of Maths and also gained popularity in writing the school timetable. Left after many years to assume a Senior Management position in another school and to get married.

Ms Judy Gott. History teacher who led the dept for a few years in the 80s before moving to take up another teaching post in the county.

Ms Linda Graham [93-12]. Appointed as the Deputy Head. A maths expert who quickly established herself as an affable and approachable individual who maintained excellent relations with staff and students alike. Blunt and open and always willing to listen and help. Retired at the end of the Summer Term in 2012 and recently married [in the USA] her long standing partner.

Mr David Grant [05-07]. Teacher of Maths and Assistant Head.

Mr Robin Grant [90-07]. Former physics teacher and Head of Science. He went part time before retiring from teaching altogether in 2007.

Mr Mark Gritten [03-10]. Sixth Form tutor and teacher of French and ICT and latterly responsible for setting up all network programmes and staff training. Multitalented and always helpful.

Mr Brinley Griffiths - History teacher from 1950s to 1970s. Very knowledgeable gentleman. Retired and got involved in footpaths. Died in 2013 at the grand old age of 97!

Ms Christine Hailstone Biology teacher from 1977/79?

Mrs Terry Halford [91-02]. Ex-Head of ICT. A stickler for perfection and good manners; she was a most well respected individual in all respects. She retired in 2002.

Mrs Emma Hammersley [99-03]. Popular teacher who came in as the new Head of Geography with new ideas for field trips and also taught Sixth Form General studies.

Mr Mike Harpham [95-98]. Former Head of Music.

Dr Frances Hawkesford [98-00]. Teacher of chemistry who moved to Sheredes School and is now head of Science there [2012].

Mrs Laura Hawkins [ -2013]. MFL teacher. Leaving to take up promotion as Assistant Head at Beaumont School in St.Albans.

Mrs Gillian Hazelwood [71-00]. Retired from the Art dept many years ago. An enthusiastic and committed teacher always prepared to spend time and encourage her pupils.

Mrs Grace Hiscocks History and first RPS librarian. 1960s through to 1980s. Retired to devote more time to Abbey Theatre. Died January 2008

Mrs Judy Holland [79-93]. Teacher of German.

Ms Christine Hood [75-08]. Retired from teaching in 2008 but continues to visit occasionally. She has also retired from activele being engaged with her former role working for the NUT.

Mr Mike Hooper [93-99]. Teacher of English for many years. Moved on for promotion to another school.

Mr Mike J Hoppe [66-00]. Senior tutor and ex-head of PE. A long standing favourite with all with special responsibility to oversee junior school transfers into Y7. Great sense of humour and always scrupulously fair. He says I spend a lot of time on holiday! He retired in 2000.

Mrs Sabrina James [98-02]. Chemistry teacher who ran the Chemistry department for a few years before leaving to have children and take up another post in Hemel Hempstead.

Mrs Melanie Johnston [06-12]. Cover supervisor and teaching assistant.

Miss Adele Jones [06-09]. Music teacher who moved to another school and since married. Not heard of since.

Mrs Carol A Jones [99-12]. worked tirelessly for many years teaching Food/ Home Economics and retired in Summer 2012.

Mrs Carol L Jones [95-04]. Initially worked as a thoroughly dedicated teacher of Economics and French. Became Head of Sixth Form in the Cunningham years before leaving after a few years to take up a teaching post in Guildford.

Mr Ken Jones [70-96]. Former Head of English and affectionately known as Ken the word. A firm favourite with everyone running a well informed and efficient department. He lives locally and has now emigrated to see his family in New Zealand.

Mr Tim Jordan [03-07]. Formerly an Assistant Head and teacher of Government & Politics. He is now the Deputy Head at the Hemel Hempstead school.

Mrs Sarah Keay Busines Studies ateacher and Sixth Form tutor.

Mrs Nicki Keele [96-07]. PA to the Headteacher in Mr Cunningham and Mr Daymond's time.

Mrs Penny Kemp [88-00]. Lab technician. Had two children who came to the school.

Mr Adrian King. Head of PE at a school in Edmonton, London. Local and running the Kings Soccer school

Mrs Vicky King [ nee Beard;87-01]. Now teaches Drama at Beechwood School.

Mr Jon Kinrade [01-06]. Recently married and now living and teaching in the Isle of Man. Responsible for increasing the football and basketball provision in the school and introduced the PE G&T scheme.

Mrs Joyce Knight Headteachers Secretary 1970s/80s. Kept all the school role details in an A4 book of 25 pages and drove a white TR7!

Mrs Lamb Home Economics teacher in the 1960s/70s.

Mr Len Larby. A loyal and long serving servant [70s-80s] who built up the technology department. He spent considerable time on the water in boats and encouraging pupils to sail. Alas he passed away a few years ago. His children were all educated at RPS and his wife also worked on cover for many years.

Mrs Leaf Bubbles. - Headteachers Secretary 1960s then taught Secretarial Studies. Retired 1976?

Mr Martin Lavelle [00-03]. Teacher of English and Assistant Head who left to take up a Deputy Headship and is now a Headteacher.

Ms Maud Le Coz [00-02]. Teacher of French.

Mr John Lee [76-03]. The school caretaker from 1976 -2003. An enthusiastic and sharp witted individual who cared passionately about this school. Sadly John died in October 2012.

Mrs Glenys Lee Wife of John and one time deputy caretaker during Johns time as caretaker. An energetic and dynamic individual who is still active in many pursuits and still living locally.

Mrs Anne Lindgren. Popular history teacher who left to take up some social work. Still lives in the area.

Mr John Longbone Music? Left 1970s.

Mrs Daria Lowe French teacher 1970s/80s. Moved toNew Zealandwith her family to run a guest house.

Mr John Lucas Maths teacher and Deputy Headteacher. Designer of the original school badge. Retired late 1980s and now living in Lincolnshire. 93 years old!

Mrs Sue Lucas [86-02]. Another favourite from the maths dept left years ago to set up a flourishing nursery [Little Orchard] with her partner in Codicote. Also a long serving and popular Sixth Form tutor.

Mr HB Luke [80-97]. Perhaps one of RPSs most articulate and knowledgeable Headteachers! Having retired in 1998, he has since completed an MA, does some work in a museum and now lives somewhere on the south coast. Haydon has visited the school on two occasions in the past couple of years.

Mrs Alison McCree [03-07]. Biology teacher and sixth form tutor.

Mrs Wendy McGinty [93-98]. A talented and learned teacher in charge of Learning Support & Special Needs and left a long time ago.

Mrs Claire Martin [92-04]. Teacher of Home Economics in the 1990s.

Ms Ruth Martin One of the original members of staff from 1956. Taught a wide variety of subjects. Retired at the same time as Mary Colman 1980s. Died a few years later.

Mrs Nan Maxwell [87-01]. History & Geography teacher and sixth form tutor for many years. Retired and still living locally.

Mrs Pauline Meadows [03-10]. Science technician.

Mr Roger Merry Geography teacher in the 1970s

Mrs Glenys Metherell [now Newman] . Former science and A level chemistry teacher and latterly Head of Sixth Form. Last heard of as an alternative medical practitioner and Lay preacher and somewhere in three counties.

Ms Rhona Mitchell. Teacher of Germa who left to gain promotion at another school. Married to Mr Woodhouse.

Mr Fergal Moane [ - 2013]. IT teacher. Moved to gain promotion as Assistant Head at Sandringham School.

Mrs Judy Munton [82-99]. Another stalwart of RPS. A well respected Geographer who was also Head of Sixth Form for a period before retiring at the same time as Mr Luke in 1997 but came back to teach for a further two years. Both her children attended RPS. She remains local and divides her time up with many activities and commitments not least as a JP.

Mrs Clare Myers [95-99]. Director of Music who left and was replaced by her husband, Phil Myers still here in 2012 as an Assistant Head.

Mrs Radka Newby - German teacher in the 1970s. Left to grow her own business Training Partnership running courses for sixth form students. Now retired.

Mr Phil Nichols [76-12]. Legendary history teacher who taught here all his teaching career before retiring in 2011 only to return for a further year to teach history A' level part time. He left completely in Summer 2012.

Mrs Cheryl Noakes [1999-2013]. Cheryl started her long career in Admin at RPS in reception before becoming the Admissions Secretary/Database Manager. Incredibly efficient and always helpful, Cheryl will be missed by all. Both her sons, Simon and Chris attended and left in 2000.

Ms Rachel OSullivan [98-98]. Chemistry teacher who moved quickly for promotion.

I

Mrs P. Enigmatic and long standing teacher of French & German. Retired sometime ago in the 80s.

Mr Jack D Passmore Former physics teacher and Head of Science. Retired at age 55. He is well and as sharp as ever.

Mr Roy Patterson [66-93]. Former Deputy Head in his last few years at RPS and renowned Maths teacher for always wearing a lab coat to protect his suits from chalk dust! Retired in 1993. Now living inAustralia with his family.

Mr David Peck [95-04]. Former pupil who returned to teach and introduced Sociology to the school curriculum. Last heard of in Valencia, Spain.

Miss Tracey Peek [98-04]. RE teacher who moved to the St Albans school.

Mrs Lesley Pollock [94-11]. Biology teacher who worked tirelessly to ensure her students achieved the highest possible grades. A conscientious Sixth Form tutor and who led the Biology dept latterly before retiring in 2011.

Mr Matt Pope [99-12]. From the PE dept and Head of Expressive Arts has now, after many years at RPS, moved on to take a well earned promotion to SLT in a school in St Albans.

Mrs Sue Pratt [91-12], Head of Business Studies and GNVQ expert. She was also a Sixth Form tutor and retired in around 2011.

Miss Holly Price [now Goddard ][05-08]. After a few years at Roundwood, Holly moved in 2009 to take up a Head of Art position at St Michaels School in Watford.

Mr Kevin Prior PE and Music. Left 1975 to go to Buenos Aries. Now running a hotel inBrazil.

Ms Christine Rattray [84-96]. Maths teacher. Now retired from teaching and married to Mr Robin Grant.

Mr Roger Reason [94-04]. Ex Home Office boffin and Network Manager who oversaw the schools computer systems. Continues to build/repair computers for fun and lives locally.

Mrs Margarte Reynolds Technician in Home Economics. Had 2 boys at the school. Retired toNorfolk1980s?

Mrs Lesley Richardson [10-12]. Teaching Assistant and more. Very popular and always a helpful individual. Left in summer 2012 and moved to Bristol as a result of her husbands job.

Mrs Janet Ridpath [90-05]. Former Head of Expressive Arts and Drama enthusiast. Retired a few years ago. Now works as a registrar of births, deaths and marriages in Alnwick and is very happy.

Ms Lyn Riley PE teacher in 1975/76

Ms Claire Robins [00-03]. Former Assistant Head and English teacher who moved to Sir John Lawes a few years ago to become the Deputy Head and then took over from Shaun Fenton to become the Headteacher there where she still is.

Mrs Liz Rollings [03-11]. Former PA to the Head of Sixth Form and an active and valued member of the management team. Left to help run the family wine business in Harpenden.

Mr Neil Ross [04-07]. Teacher of Government & Politics.

Mr Tim Saunders [90-99]. Left RPS to become Head of PE at Richard Hale School in Hertford and he is still there!

Mr Jack Shaw Art teacher and Head of Department. Remembered for changing the layout of the Art Department using his carpentry and construction skills!. Left 1980s. Later died in Cornwall.

Mr Steve Shawley English teacher last heard of working in Tourist information in Luton some decades ago.

Mr Ron Shipton Maths and Special Needs teacher in the 1990s?

Mrs Janet Skakle [96-12]. After many years enduring/providing for the needs of an ever increasingly demanding Science dept she relinquished her role as a member of the technicians to take a well earned retirement.

Miss Djamilla Skendraoui [10-11]. Teacher of French here for a year then moved to St George's for a permanent position.

Dr Brian Smith [81-11]. Science, Chemistry, Sixth Form General Studies teacher & Sixth Form tutor. Latterly looking after HE/UCAS applications but retired from teaching in summer 2011 only to remain part time to manage the Alumni Association which he started a few years before.

Mr Dave Steggalls [97-09]. Head of Design & Technology.

Mrs Gill Steggalls [99-10].Worked in reprographics.

Mr Chris Steward [69-95]. Head of Technology for many years. Last heard working in a non teaching position.

Mr John Storer [97-01]. Joined the Geography dept as an NQT and became Head of dept before leaving to work in central America or similar. Has returned to visit RPS on occasions.

Mrs Carol Styles [04-07]. Network Manager. A most particular and organised individual who demanded that staff should follow instructions!

Mrs Julie Stylianides [06-09]. Maths teacher.

Mrs Sue Sweet. Very popular and most helpful Librarian

Mr Tom Surtees [62-96]. Deputy Head and Maths teacher for a very long time. Moved away to the East coast.

Mrs Pauline Sutherland [01-04]. Business studies specialist.

Mrs Liz Swinscoe [98-00]. Teacher of French. Since moved to work as a tutor to Harry Potter but now does charity work in the locality.

Mr Richard Taylor [92-94]. Teacher of French for a short period [ c.1993/4? ] who moved to another school for promotion as Head of Dept.

Mrs Jill Thomson Needlework and Geography teacher in the 1970s.

Mrs Margaret Todd Biology and Human Biology teacher in the 1970s. Moved to Essex and carried on teaching, had a family and now retired toDevon.

Ms Ros Tuckwell [07-12]. Left in 2012 after making an impact in the Science dept teaching chemistry. Latterly a Sixth Form tutor and very popular with the students as one who always put them first. A thorough and conscientious individual now lost to St Columbas where she is Head of Chemistry.

Mr Brian Turnbull Headteacher 1976-1979. Moved away and died August 2011.

Mrs Trenchard [94-09]. Senior librarian. Now retired in the last few years. Incredibly helpful and dogged in her determination to keep the library and all her books on the shelf!

Mrs Caroline Veal Biology teacher in the 1980s Moved to become Head of Department at another school. Retired some years ago but still living locally.

Mrs Jean Younger Human Biology teacher in the 1960s/1970s. Left to devote more time to running Living Crafts. Died some years ago.

Mrs Hazel Wale [98-09]. Formerly the School Manager who, after many years of loyal service, moved to Sir John Lawes to work with Claire Robins and is now a Deputy Head there.

Mrs Sandy Walker [95-03]. Worked in the school office principally for the Sixth form.

Mrs Susan Ward [96-11]. A perfectionist if ever there was one who worked tirelessly in Reprographics and retired in 2012.

Mrs Sheila Wheeler [79-95]. Director of Music for many years. Retired and now living locally.

Mr Ed Wickins Head of Geography late 1990s. Pioneered distant trips! Left to become Deputy Head locally then Head in Gloucestershire and now Head of International School in Hong Kong.

Mr Ed Wilkinson Business Studies teacher, Sixth Form tutor and Young Enterprise/Wings of Hope Coordinator. Wildly enthusiastic and dedicated teacher. Has now moved to a middle school in Bedfordshire.

Kipps Wilkinson Languages 1975/76. Still lives locally and active in political pressure groups.

Mr David Williams [85-11]. RE teacher, Assistant Head and leader of many assemblies.

Ms Val Williams [89-04]. Physics teacher and sixth Form tutor. Very committed and thoroughly professional caring teacher.

Mr Alex Wilson [01-09]. Site Manager for a few years during the reign of Andy Cunningham.

Mrs Chris Wilson [86-05]. Senior Science Technician for many years. Left to take up a post out of education then returned to work at St Albans school for a period.

Mrs Betty Wolfenden. A most demanding and talented maths teacher. Retired from teaching long ago and last heard involved with the Workers Educational Authority

Miss Zo Woodcock [03-12]. From ICT who left the school and the country in the summer of 2012 to live and work in Madrid.
