Windsor Sixth Form Bulletin Website: www.windsor.dudley.sch.uk 14th March 2014 (Issue 12) It gives me great pleasure to be able to announce some hot off the press news, on Tuesday the Sixth Form Netball team travelled the longest distance we have ever travelled for a fixture. They were drawn against a team from Truro in the quarter finals of the British College of Sport National Plate Competition. Their road trip started on Tuesday and after an overnight stay and a further journey to Penzance they were ready to face the opposition. An excellent performance saw the girls win by 45-22 which now means they have a semi-final match, thankfully at home! A big thank you to Mr Lowe and Miss Barnett who accompanied the girls on their trip. Once again our newsletter celebrates success and opportunity for students and we are also very excited to announce the introduction of the Extended Project Qualification for Year 12 students. An excellent qualification for students to showcase their skills and independence which is highly regarded by employers and universities. DRAMA AND THEATRE STUDIES Year 12 and 13 Drama and Theatre Studies students recently visited the Belgrade Theatre to see the Propeller Theatre Company's production of Shakespeare's 'The Comedy of Errors'. The performance was set in modern-day South America and students will now go on to compare this production to those performed in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Darren Campbell MBE Olympic Athlete Recently a group of Sixth Form students travelled to Rivers Primary School (part of the Windsor Academy Trust) in Walsall to take part in a sprinting Masterclass with Olympic gold medal winning Darren Campbell and a group of talented Year 6 pupils. He taught us skills on how to improve our sprinting techniques including several painful exercises. The sprint Masterclass was followed by a question and answer session including the whole upper years of the school. Here Darren emphasised how important it is to Law Study Sessions Got a query about a topic in AS or A2 Law? Need practise with exam skills?
