3. What have you learned from our work about jobs and gender stereotypes?

Males and females can have the same jobs. There is no girl thing and no boy thing. I learned do what you want to do, no-one can stop you. Boys and girls can do any job.I would like to be a footballer.I have learned how to do my job, and that is a footballer and I learned that from my football coach. I have learned that there can be an equal amount of males and females.I have learned that boys and girls can have the same job as each other. You can be whatever you want to be. Nobody can stop you except for yourself. Follow your dream and your mind will take you there. You can do any job that you want. I have learned that anyone can be what they want to be without anyone stopping them, apart from themselves.I have learned that you can do anything.

That we can all have the same jobs. That men could be nurses. I have learned that no job is for males or females. They are for both.I have learned that there are not jobs just for men or women. If people say no you can’t do this because you’re a girl, don’t listen. You can do whatever you want if you try. That not just girls can do one job and only boys can do another. They can both do what they want. I have learned that nothing can stop you from following your dream, even gender. I have learned that boys and girls can do any jobs so don’t let anyone stop you. There is no girl job or boy job. There is no girl or boy anything. We learned that boys can do every single job and women can do the same. Anyone can be anything. I have learned to follow my talent and my passion. That you don’t have to listen to anybody who says you can’t do that because you are a boy/girl. Just go where your mind takes you. That men and women are different by lots of things. That men choose harder jobs than women most of the time. That you can be anything that you want to be. You can be anything. Nobody can stop you but yourself. I have learned this year that men and women can do the same sort of job.

4. If you were a teacher, what would you do to teach children about jobs and gender stereotypes?

How:Play computer games. Get visitors in to come and talk about it. Philosophy circles.I would give them a booklet to read. Show them videos and give them a visitor and activities. I would make people come in and do flipcharts and P4C.Same way you taught us. I would do venn diagrams. I would do lots of philosophy circles and let everyone share their opinions.I would try to get the person from WEST to teach the children. I would ask them about what they think and then show them a group of people that do that job and it would include both genders. I would make children do fun activities. If I was a teacher, I would show them how many men so what they think are women’s jobs.Have a person from WEST come in, show graphs and do P4C. What:I would tell them there’s no such thing as a boy job and a girl job. I would tell them that things are not boyish or girlish. I would teach them that anybody can be whatever they want to be. You can do any job that you want. I would teach them that they can do anything.I would say that there are no girl jobs or boy jobs. That anybody can do any job. That nothing can stop you.

I would teach children that all boys and girls can do anything they want. To tell them you can be anything that you want. Tell them that you can be anything. Follow your dreams. I would tell my children to follow your goals and respect your dreams. I would say the future belongs in the hands of those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
