Reading

During this difficult time in our lives we want to show our appreciation for our administration – Mrs. Serrazina, Mrs. Vanzandt, and Mr. Santo who are working hard every day to make sure that are school stays up and running to help families in need. They also spend their time planning for the day that we get to come back to school and be together again. Please show your thankfulness by writing to these three amazing principals for all the hard work that they put in every day. Please remember to have the date, greeting, body of the letter, and a closing. This may take more than one day. If you choose to you can write a letter each day to one of the principals. Happy writing!Example: This is an example of a friendly letter it has the same format as a thank you letter.

Extra Support Hints: If writing the letter independently is too challenging, write sentence starters for your child to complete. Here is an example of a letter with sentence starters and prompts.

Math

Math-activities, parent information, engaging tasksWe were practicing adding two-digit numbers. This game is a great way to practice adding in a fun way.Materials: two dice, a deck of cards, or make digit cards by writing the numbers 0-9 on a piece of paper

Race to Zero1. Each player draws 6 cards.2. Using two 3-digit numbers, create asubtraction problem. Remember the largernumber must come first! Your goal is to getthe difference as close to zero as you can.3. The player whose subtraction problem has adifference closest to zero wins the round.4. Play six rounds. The player who wins themost rounds wins the game.

Extra support hint: If subtracting 3-digit numbers is difficult, have the player draw 4 cards to create 2-digit numbers. If the player struggles to subtract numbers above 50, use number cards 0-5 instead of 0-9. Remind students to use a strategy to solve the problem by using the pictures below.Making TEN
