To the members of NatCom

At our recent monthly meeting we discussed as correspondence the advertised job description for the national administrator role currently held by Debby. Our understanding is that this is due to you wanting to cut costs for the club.

I have been asked to contact you on behalf of our branch to express that while we appreciate the effort from Natcom to cut costs in an effort to keep the club viable, we also believe that some costs are necessary and vital to the efficient running of the club.

If there is a need to cut costs in some areas or raise more funds, then we would prefer the members of NatCom to look elsewhere – such as the website or quartermaster costs (if there are any), or having more tickets in the annual bike raffle. Does Ulysses qualify for any grants to cover administration? We would even prefer to have the yearly membership price increased to ensure the

national administrator remains someone impartial and under high expectations. We feel as soon as you ask club members to fulfil such a role then this could lead to slipping quality and lessening of expectations – with a loss of the knowledge required for the role if the position changes hands often. We wish to express our appreciation for the wonderful and efficient job Debby does as National Administrator – all our members who have had dealings with her have found her to be friendly, accurate and prompt in her responsibilities andactions. Thanks again for the great work you all do to keep Ulysses NZ the great club it is.

Yours sincerely

Financial report: Moved to be accepted: Harry, Seconded Blair. Carried

Correspondence: Nil

Rides: last club ride went well with 15 people going. The next is an overnighter to Castle Point on October the 19th 20th and so far there we have 10 going with a few more to confirm.

Rally: There was nothing in the last Ulyssian magazine except in Suzie’s Taranaki club report. We need more for a subcommittee with Blair willing to help and Jeff Ransley. We will need to get more by January as the rally is going ahead.

General business: Suzie has been nominated to be secretary of the National committee and will be standing down as our president at the end of this term. The committee members congratulated her on being nominated even though this means she won’t continue as our president. We now are looking for those interested to take over next year.

Gemma wants to be relieved of the website duties and Shane was suggested.

Meeting closed at 6.35pm
