Term and Definition

Visual

1) Electrical Conduction

-A conductor is used to transfer heat between two parts of a stationary system. This is caused by differences in temperature.

2) Voltage (electrical potential)

-This is the potential difference in electromotive force

3)Current

-This is measured in Ampers. It is the rate of flow of electrons.

4) Resistance

- This is measured in Ohms. It offers opposition to an electrical conductor.

Voltage equals the conductor divided by the current flow.

5) Ohm’s Law

-This law states that in any electrical circuit the current is directly proportional to the voltage and inversely proportional to the resistance.

6) AC

-alternating electrical current flows in multiple directions

7) DC

-direct electrical current that flows only in one direction

8) Series

-A Series circuit is a system consisting of all parts connected in a series or connected row.

9) Parallel

-In a parallel arrangement of points, the terminals are connected in such a way that the same voltage is being applied to each component.

10) Electrical units and prefix

-Volt (V)

-Watt (W)

-Ampere (A)

11) Voltmeter

-This instrument measures the potential difference between two points carrying an electrical current.

12) Ammeter

-The units are Amperes. This instrument measures electrical currents.

13) Digital multimeter

-This is a digital device that measures using one or more of the following meters and/or quantities: anammeter, voltmeter, electric circuit, voltage, resistance, and current

14) Faraday’s law

-This law recognizes the electromotive force by the motion of a conductor and how it can change the magnetic field.
