Editor Editing in the TV industry is important as it can make short clips into shows and can fix up any mistakes that were made during the filming so that it doesn’t need to be re-shot, this allows for the film to take on any setting due to the power that editing has as it can change the mood just by adding a simple colour filter. One of the roles of editing is the copy editors as their role is to be responsible for the clarity and accuracy of the content that is in the finished product, this mainly applies to the products that will be broadcasted and published. This specific role is considered one of the most important roles, this is most likely due to the fact that they are the quality assurance of the project, if they fail at this task and the project is released or broadcasted, it may give off the impression that it was cheaply made and could create a bad reputation for the company. As said previously the main role is that the copy editors have to make sure that the project is that the clarity and accuracy of the content, all of this is done so that the visuals look better and everything is more finely tuned. The future roles an editor could get to could include chief editor which is a higher ranking of editing as they have more of a say of how things are edited and how things are working as planned. As for educational qualifications for an editor it said that no requirements are needed but they usually want a 4-year degree.

Camera operator The camera operator operates the cameras as they film the scene the director wants, they have to follow the director's orders as camera placement can easily change the setting of a film and can make the difference between a good film and a bad film, they also choose the right lenses to use on the camera. The hierarchy of being a camera operator can be a different amount of levels of importance as it depends on whether how much the camera is moved or in need of being placed in specific shots as sometimes it can be used for just a simple pan from left to right, however camera shots can be more complex and so will be more difficult but is need to create the scene it will have a bigger importance. The responsibility of the role of being the camera operator is a simple premise but is a big task that needs to be executed perfectly because the camera is what the viewer sees from because if its shaky or off centre it can throw people out of the mood of the movie, which is something the director doesn’t want to happen. A camera operator could move onto becoming an editor as they would understand about how camera shots work and might know how to put them together to make a coherent scene, they would also be good at following the orders that the director would give them. The qualifications for a camera operator is not required but it is recommended that they have an associate or a bachelor’s degree in television, film journalism and videography.

Production assistant The production assistant communicates to the broadcasting channel while the live show is going on, they will also count down the time remaining for something such as an interview or an advert break. The production assistant also notes down parts where they have to add pre-recorded inserts and sound effects, they also have to deal with issues involving copyright and administrative. This hierarchy of this job role is very important but isn't one of the highest roles there is, the production assistant still has to deal with any issues of copyright so they have to get the rights to use specific types of music for example. The production assistant also has to make sure to note down when certain sound effects or sound clips are to be placed so that its easier for the editor to now the areas where the sound clip needs to be put in. The responsibility of this role is high as you need to make sure that all the copyright issues are resolved so that no serious issues will rise such as a song being used that hasn't been payed for, which could result in a court case with the artist and the movie company. The production assistant also has to help the editor in a slight way, by noting down on where the sound effect or voice clip goes, as it saves time as they won't have to watch the whole scene or clip to see where the sound effect or voice clip goes. The production assistant could be promoted to the production manager as they would have shown that they can handle the tasks that the production assistants are given so they can do the tasks that a production manager does. The qualifications for a production assistant aren't necessarily needed however it is stated they would prefer a qualification in journalism.

Radio

Radio Presenter Radio presenting in the radio industry is important as they provide a part of the entertainment on the radio show, they also are the announcer in the show, this allows for the radio user to send out information to the listeners, such as the news. The radio presenter has to announce current affairs like the news or traffic that is on the road, they can also be a form of entertainment, for example they could treat the radio as a sort of conversation with the listeners and the listeners could answer questions that the radio presenter says. The radio presenter would have to make sure that they don’t give out bias information so that it looks like they are supporting a certain thing or that they don’t do anything such as swear as the young people could be listening to that radio station. The radio presenter could move on up to become a radio producer for the radio station as they would know about the ins and outs of a radio station and the things you can and cannot do on the radio. You don't need any qualifications to become a radio presenter but something in the media department could help your chances in being accepted.

Radio Producer (Content) A radio content producer oversees what goes on in the radio show and they tend to also organise what goes on in the show, this can include which guests will come on and what topics the radio presenter will talk about, they will even time when the show will do specific things such as competitions or events. The hierarchy in being a radio producer is very high as they are the main one in charge of what is shown and they have to make sure they fit into the guidelines so that its appropriate for the listeners, as radio shows don't have a watershed method like the one televisions. The radio producer also has to make everything goes to their plan as things could get mixed up which create confusion around the radio station which could turn away listeners if it's all jumbled up and doesn’t follow the schedule their regular listeners could be accustom to. As mentioned before some of the responsibilities would be making sure all the things that are broadcasted would be appropriate for their audience they also have to make sure everything runs smoothly with little to no hiccups during the live sessions. The qualification needed for this role is a bachelor's degree in either audio arts, mass media, journalism or radio production.

Radio Broadcast Journalist The main role of this job is mainly planning out news stories that will be broadcasted on the radio, this includes the editing, researching and producing of the content, the news is aimed at the current affairs that are happening currently so the research has to be done efficiently, they have to make sure that they are broadcasting the news in a sensible fashion that caters to a wide audience.

The hierarchy of this particular role is high as the radio broadcast journalist has to research what the current affairs, they then have to write about it and make sure that it fits with the wide audience so that everyone can understand it and finally they have to read it out while the radio is on air, they will have to say the news in a tone of voice that doesn't seem out of place and so that everyone understands what the person is saying. The main responsibilities of working as a radio broadcast journalist would have to be being careful with what you write and what you say as you are catering to a wide audience of people which all have different opinions on different topics, so the radio broadcast journalist would have to make sure that when they report on the current affairs they give an unbiased report on the matter so that it doesn’t spark any controversies or alienate any listeners. A radio broadcast journalist could become a radio presenter as they would know about the guidelines of what they can and can't say, they would also have the confidence to speak on live radio. The qualification for a radio broadcast journalist is to have a bachelor's degree in a journalism or communications.

Print-based

Reporter The role of this particular job is to get all the information on a current event and get all the facts and info needed on the subject and they need to do this as quickly as possible so that they can get the story out first to capitalize on the matter so that people will see there's first and want to read it as no one would have mentioned the story yet. They also need to write about the article as well so they need to be good at English so they can deliver what the current affair is effectively. The hierarchy of this role is rather high as the reporter has to constantly get enough info to write a story on the topic they are investigating, they also need to make sure that the info gathered is reliable which could be difficult as people could be lying. They also need to write an article on this as well and have to deliver it in an unbiased form so that it doesn’t seem to push forward one side or defend a certain thing. The writer has to make sure that they word the story correctly as well so that the story they are reporting on isn't misinterpreted as something different by anyone else.

Chief editor There are many types of editors in the print-based business but the one I am looking at is the chief editor as they have one of the more important roles, the chief editor in the print-based media business has the role of laying out the newspaper as they are responsible for the task of the quality and content that is going to be put into the newspaper. The hierarchy in this role is very high as the chief editor is responsible for the whole quality and content in this newspaper so they have to make sure that it is acceptable and that it gives of the appeal that it's trying to give off, such as a formal look e.g. the guardian. The responsibilities of being a chief editor are as previously mentioned as they have to choose what content and quality is in the newspaper and they have to make fit in with what the newspaper is like e.g. formal. The qualification needed to be a chief editor is a bachelor's degree in journalism or communications.

Designer The designer has to make the newspaper look appealing to people so that they would want to buy it, they might do this with big images to grab the viewers' attention. The designers also have to make sure that the newspaper still looks like a newspaper though so they have to make it have a slight formal appearance to it as well. The hierarchy in the designer's role is high as they have one of the main roles that will help sell the newspaper as they need to make it stand out more than the other newspapers that will most likely be covering the same stories.

The responsibilities of this role are that the editor needs to make sure that the design of the newspaper will make it more likely to sell as it stands out more from the other competition of different newspapers. The qualifications for the job role as a designer are a bachelor's degree in IT.
