o Friday Hikes. Small groups with a few people. They are going well.o Saturday Hikes. Craig and Paul led Oct 28th hike with one guest. Trail was fairly

navigable. Paul paid $20 to boost the hike that got us new likes on our FB page. Let’s consider spending some money on FB posts.

o Mindfulness walk. Paul will boost Work parties - Not many left. One in Westcrest Nov 18 with Dirt Corps Tree Thinning – Planting has begun. 10,000 plants will be going in over the winter. Invasives

have been identified and removed/sprayed. Michael has mentioned that the unofficial trails don’t need to have a planting buffer. Steve also mentioned that people and dogs track seeds and can spread invasives, so it would be good to have signs educating people about seed dispersion BMPs. Judy thinks we should explain “hygiene” on our website.

Let’s have a hike focused on the gap thinning and restoration. Sign-in sheet for walks/hikes. Paul to send sign in sheets.

Outreach Grant: Website progress/updates - https://wdgtrails.org

o Updates from Judy on content/format – Judy to get in touch with a natural history and restoration historian—Van Bobbitt, emeritus faculty from SSC. The Mobile app is where we need to focus on improvements.

o Let’s pay the $48/yr to remove the ads. Logo/graphic design – Dina asked for an additional $35, so total came to $185. Trail map updates/improvements – Matt showed us an overview. Next steps are to add missing

features (trails, lost pond), and then we can start identifying or naming routes and adding descriptions. We can color code or symbolize.

Trail names/markers/ regions – We should name regions e.g., Cass Turnbull (Plant Amnesty. There is a standard for how to describe accessibility. Also include elevation grade, slope, type of trail, seasonal bushwhacking.

Admin – Joanna to submit claim on Nov 15. Please remember to track your hours and send to Joanna. Paul send Joanna receipt for flyer reimbursement. Reporting period runs from 9/1/17 to 10/31/17

Budget - Approx $2500 remaining

Misc: Trail conditions report. Overall looking fairly good. A tree did fall across one of the Soundway

trails. Along the route from Lost Pond to the Chinese Garden through the thinning area, there are a few felled trees across the path, but they are passable.

Pigeon Point sign refurbished Lake Burien Streetcar route - Craig gave an update on the location of the old route

Next steps/Announcements/Ideas: Trail naming and markers Outreach materials: posters, flyers, brochures, stickers, banner, etc…. Boosting FB events Joanna to check with Minh Chau Le on extending the grant due to the holidays taking up time,

and brochure design. Continue to get the map updated Next SC mtg - TBD Task group mtgs (e.g. finalizing map, route naming, brochure) Restoration and natural history added to website. Judy to contact Van Bobbitt.
