Like most roles in the industry, working hours are about as flexible as can be depending on the projects you are undertaking and the stage that your productions are at.Working hours can be extremely long, however, and will almost certainly involve weekend and evening work when deadlines for production dates are looming.

In the box below list 5 bits of information that you need to include on your CV. Use the following websites to help you research your answers -

http://sightlines.usitt.org/archive/v46/n10/stories/Resume.html

http://work.chron.com/make-technical-theater-resume-22152.html

The résumé is the primary document that represents the job seeker. It may be the introductory document sent ahead before a physical interview.

Qualifications are the skills that you have gained from practical theatre experience. Examples might be costuming, set design, sound, lighting, props and rigging.

It was once common to list references on your resume, though it is not necessary on technical theatre resume. Most theatre employers will use the supervisors listed in your credits in place of traditional references.

Theatrical credits are your work history. This is a columned list of productions you have worked on, complete with the name of the production, your supervisor, your position, the year the production was staged and the name of the theatre company.

Technical theatre resumes have a clean, columned layout that is easy to read and is generally limited to one page.

Now write your own C.V. In addition, insert it into the box below

Make sure your work has been proof read and that you have corrected any spelling and grammar mistakes.

3.1 Reflection of your studies You have now completed seven units, where you have learnt a diverse range of skills and challenging yourselves to develop these. Answer the three questions in the box below. Question 1: Analyse and evaluate you own progress on the course so far.

What are your areas of strength? How have they developed while you have been at college?

Question 2: Identify opportunities for areas to improve on.

What areas could you/would you like to improve on? Why?

Question 3: Progression

At this point in the course, what do you see yourself doing in the future and where?

My areas of strength is set design and construction and I feel I have been able to express that while being here at Kendal and show it through productions and showcases.

I would like to improve on my confidence and being strict as a production manager or set manager and have a good and impressive fmp as I feel I have more potential in this field.

I see myself nowhere at the minute and maybe after level 3 I will update you but for now I’m focusing on my fmp for a distinction.

When this workbook is complete, print it out and hand it in to Beverley on reception. Also link it onto your blog.
