It is crucial that we all have the digital skills needed for both life and work. Without these skills we will be at a significant disadvantage within the workplace. These four evening sessions have been developed to help individuals obtain essential digital skills in order to apply for or enhance their career. The sessions can be accessed as a whole, or on an identified needs basis. Course Outline Evening 1: Foundation Digital Skills How to turn on a device and enter account information as required How to use a mouse and keyboard on a computer or laptop, use a touch screen on a smart phone or tablet How to use settings menus to change device display to make content easier to read How to find applications by choosing the correct icons on the home screen How to connect a device to the internet using the Wi-Fi settings, and insert a password when required How to locate the browser icon on a device and find a website How to use search engines to find information How to stay safe online, understand security and privacy

Evening 2: Handling information & content How to use a cloud storage account for saving files How to organise information and content using files and folders on a device or on the cloud How to set up an email account How to send photographs and other documents as an email attachment How to set up an account on messaging platforms, such as WhatsApp or Telegraph How to set up and use video-telephony products such as Skype for video How to be a member of and manage personal networking sites, such as Twitter How post appropriately on social media and forums

How to use word processing software to create a CV or a letter How to use spreadsheet software to manage accounting or other data to capture, display, and

manipulate data How to manage a calendar or appointments system How to complete an online application form, for example for a job How to upload a CV to an online recruitment site

Evening 4: Collaborating and sharing information on professional networks

How to use document sharing though web-based applications such as Google Docs to work on a document in collaboration with colleagues

How to use digital collaboration tools to meet with, share and collaborate with colleagues How to use professional online networks and communities
