DISTANCE LEARNING – WEEK BEGINNING 19.04 2020 Day English Maths Sun 19th Apri l Sunday Creating a healthy eating poster Today we are going to be creating a healthy eating poster. The children will revise the food groups and they can draw and label a list of healthy food. The children will revise that they should eat a little of everything from each food group to maintain a balanced healthy diet. As a challenge the children can write sentences explaining the importance of each food group. Key Questions What are the food groups? Why should we eat lots of fruit and vegetables? Why is drinking milk good for you? What food group should you only eat a little of every day? What food group do eggs belong to? Task Children will look at the food group poster on the key note and revise the different food groups. They will be able to identify different foods that belong to a particular food group. For example, rice belongs to the carbohydrate food group. Children will then draw examples of healthy food and label the healthy food. This can be done in their distance learning books and should be colourful. Challenge Children will write sentences about the different food groups. Example: Fruit and vegetables are good for us because they keep our bodies healthy and help us fight disease. Milk is a protein and it contains calcium. Calcium helps Sunday: Making Equal fractions Introduction Today we are learning about fractions and to recognise that fractions are made up of equal parts of a whole. Introduction

Today, we are going to be learning about verbs. Verbs are a doing (action word) that describes what someone is doing. For example: Tom painted his hair. Painted is a doing word therefore it is a verb.

Key QuestionsWhat is a verb?Why do we use a verb in a sentence?What is a bossy verb?

Task Children will read a list of bossy verbs. Bossy verbs are usually at the start of a sentence. When you are giving a set of instructions you use bossy verbs.For example: Put on your coat. Turn off the television.

Children will watch a video of Miss Jill making a sandwich and will make a list of all the bossy verbs that she used.

Children will read sentences and must decide which bossy verb should go into the sentence.

ChallengeChildren write three sentences about ‘actions’ they did last week.
