A new National Curriculum begins in September and to help you prepare for this, there are a number of tasks to help develop your sense of place.Please return your work to your teacher at the start of the new term.

a. Test your knowledge of places by completing the following games:Countries / Continents / Oceans / Rivers / Mountain ranges / Deserts

b. Complete the blank world map on the reverse of this sheet with your answers for: Continents / Oceans / Rivers / Mountain ranges / Deserts. Use a pencil first, then use colours and pen for the labels.

Task 2: Who’s trumped?You are now going to create four identical Top Trumps cards based on countries you have chosen. This must be ready to play at the beginning of the Autumn term.

What do I include and where can I find it on the website?:You have four categories to fit onto each card. You will then cut the cards out.

Category 1 – Total area (square kilometres) of the country (Click on Geography)Category 2 – Population: The total population based on current estimates (Click on People & Society)Category 3 – Life expectancy: The average age a person is expected to live in the country (Click on People & Society)Category 4 – Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita: This means the average income per person.
