About HCT:

1985 – Sheikh Nahayan bin Mubarak , made commitment to establish a new system of postsecondary education.

1988- The higher colleges of technology were established by federal law 2 issued by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan.

Current enrolment exceeding 20,000 students.HCT has 17 campuses which include, women and men.

HCT is providing for their students a range of education programmers which the federally funded or sponsors employers in UAE that include;

E-textbook and laboratory materials

Academic services are providing e-textbook and laboratory material to the students by free or by payment the fees or extra replacement which determined chancellor. During the semester the students should bring their electronic devices such as iPod's, laptop, and essential apps which teacher required to be used in their classroom. Also, they should bring material, equipment, tools required to the laboratory and others for their major.

4.COUNSELLING AND SPECIAL NEEDS

Personal counseling:

The adviser has some assistance for the students. Firstly, help the students to solve their problems. Secondly, provide the students with the facilities to their academic education such as: self-awareness, self-confidence, self-management, and life skills and study. Thirdly, the adviser can keep their secret information which led them to overcome their challenges. Finally, adviser makes sure to concentrate about the students' education development.

Students having Special Needs:

HCT committed help the students who have special needs which help them to develop their potential. For instance, if the students have a special needs or education needs and it also needs extra support from student services supervisor, therefore, they can contact with them as possible as they can anytime during an academic year. In addition, the students should give their medical report that explains about their special needs from the doctors. Also, the students must be following about their case before beginning each of the semesters to help them.

Career Centre and career adviser make sure to help the students. Firstly, Career advisers can the students to figure out the career information which helps them to develop their academic goals and career goals respectively. Furthermore, career adviser can help the students to find and apply the summer jobs, and they can provide the jobs after them graduate. Also, career advisors help the students to discuss their career which involve, writing curriculum vitae, learning how to use job search techniques, working on interview skills, and also they can learn how to finding out the possible employment opportunities.Generally, HCT has career days which there are a lot of employers that help students to know about job opportunities which are available for the students or not.

5.EXTRA-CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

HCT offer a set of social and cultural activities, etc., and also offers film festivals and sports competitions in order to target the development of individual skills, and apply what they have learned skills.

6.STUDENT Clubs

HCT have to support the student's clubs which develop the student's life in college, for example, the student can contribute in groups with a variety of activities. In addition, student council which means there are groups with leadership at HCT and this group should commit to the Methaq student code of conduct.In addition, the student can choose who they want to be in students council at HCT. Furthermore, the student council have a plan and organize a lot of activities and events during the academic year. Also, students council has a regular meeting to make such plan and do it. The student council is giving support the student and they discuss international cases and nationally cases which it could be related to the studentsFinally, if the students want to join any association or became a member of student council, so they contact their student service department.

7.FacilitiesThe HCT provides practical services and infrastructure at each campus, including parking

on campus, a cafeteria, a Student Centre, study areas, prayer facilities, convenience and/or stationery stores, cash-point services, and ID provisions. Some areas of the campus arealso monitored by CCTV Cameras for safety and security. Lockers are available for the safekeeping of books and personal belongings. The college is not responsible for lost items.Apply for your parking permit and locker on Student Self Service.

8. Financial aid

The college providing assistance to students who need help buying a laptop, food, transportation and computer student can contact the Department of the College Student Services, in addition to this HCT help in some other way, such as providing temporary jobs.

9. AWARDS, BURSARIES AND SCHOLARSHIPSAre the prizes and grants provided by the company to the students who have

achieved certain criteria in terms of academic excellence that.

Graduation Awards Students graduate with Distinction, Distinction with Honours or Distinction with Highest Honours, provided they meet the following criteria in their programme or major: Distinction a Cumulative GPA between 3.50 and 3.74 Distinction with Honours a Cumulative GPA between 3.75 and 4.00 Distinction with Highest Honours The highest programme GPA system-wide, provided the programme GPA is between 3.75 and 4.00.

The Abu Dhabi Industry Awards The Abu Dhabi Industry Awards are awarded to top HCT graduates. Nominees for this award are in the top 10% of the graduating class in each of the following aspects: • graduation GPA (grade point average); • grades in graduation project and work placement; attendance record in the final year of their programme; and contributions to campus activities and community. 10. HEALTH, WELLNESS AND SAFETY Security Fire Drill Medical Emergencies

The college secured all entrances, security men, have the right to refuse a student out without permission and must be respected.

Students must know of emergency exits for caution when a fire occurs.

If you are seriously ill and your teacher needs to help you, she/he will call Student Services who will provide assistance and contact your family. An ambulance will be called if necessary.

11. STANDARDS OF CONDUCTAspiring college out of your time, to be successful and contribute toTo the excellent reputation of the Higher Colleges of Technology, and meet the high standards and, by doing so you are helping to promote the Higher Colleges of Technology, developed HCT of policies and procedures clearly defined in the (METHAQ) of the student code of conduct to ensure the continuation of these high levels. 12. GRADUATION

To qualify for a Higher Colleges of Technology credential, you must successfully complete all of the requirements of your programme, such as minimum number of credits, required courses, work experience, English language assessments, and other requirements specific to your programme major. Also students are required to complete 100 hours of volunteering to be able to graduate. The Graduation Eligibility Period is the period within which a student is eligible to graduate and to participate in the HCT official graduation ceremony. This period starts on the first day and ends on the last day of each academic year, including the optional summer session.

13. Volunteering Programme at HCT

The College hopes to incorporate a voluntary 100-hour mandatory for each student, and designed to support personal growth and behavioral maturity, including the promotion of national identity and social responsibility, the program works to promote social awareness between the Higher Colleges of Technology

Examination Procedures:

1. Starting the exam. (You should be in exam room before the exam about 30 min, student who arrive late not allowed to take the assessment).

2. Leaving the room. (If the student went out without permission will not be allowed to re-enter).

3. Students belongings. (use only materials provided in the room).

4. Talking. (not allowed).

5. Questions. (Raise your hand for question).

6. Cheating. (If you cheat you will not be allowed to take additional exams).

7. Total time allowed. (No extra time).

8. Finishing the exam. (Student cannot take exam material).

English language standards:

English language standards are assessed using the IELTS or equivalent. Must be taken at an HCT- approved test centers.

Accreditation and Benchmarking:

College got to adopt an official license from the Ministry of Education and the state takes effect from May 1, 2014 until April 30, 2019.And access to academic accreditation in the United States (CHEA).

Note: it’s important to understand that the minimum cumulative GPA 2.0 for graduation, If you are permitted to repeat, you may do so once only.
