The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
MAY CROWNING
It was a beautiful day to honor our Mother Mary. Thank you to our 2nd and 7th grade, who made our May Crowning so special.
We we thrilled to be in church together to honor our Blessed Mother.
DIVERSITY AND EQUALITY
At Our Lady of Peace School, the work of diversity, equality, and inclusion is the responsibility of the pastor, administration, faculty, staff, students, their families, and our entire school and parish family. We recognize that Our Lady of Peace School exists in
an ever-changing world and that our understanding of and support for diversity, equality, and inclusion must grow and evolve. We will not tolerate anything less. We all have a
role in ensuring every child at Our Lady of Peace School continues to feel known, valued, and loved.
Our daily morning prayers will include our new "Diversity and Equality Prayer.” At Our Lady of Peace School, we will continue to live by our Mission.
"Rooted in the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy, we at Our Lady of Peace School are
called to educate the whole child in the spirit of service and compassion. We strive as a community, coupled with God's love, to inspire each child to grow spiritually and
academically in a diverse and increasingly challenging world."
John 13:34"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved
you, that you also love one another.

MS. DREW’S 5TH GRADEMs. Drew & Mr. Capuano’s science class had an “Egg-Clent” time competing in their
egg drop challenge. Students used the design method to develop, evaluate, and contemplate their creations. We had four successful drops in total. However, the
devices where the eggs cracked taught us to think about future improvements critically.Great work, 5th grade!
MRS. BATTISTA’S 1ST GRADE LIBRARY CLASS
First grade read Camp Tiger by Susan Choi. A boy goes camping with his family, and surprisingly a tiger appears in the woods.
The first-grade students made their own tigers. Thank you, Mrs. Battista, for reading this great book and creating an awesome project! You are Grrrrrreat!
IMPORTANT DISMISSAL INFORMATIONCONTINUING ON TUESDAY, JUNE 1, 2021
National Grid will be continuing to work on Nieman Avenue.
The work should not affect arrival, but dismissal will be affected. To help you safely pick up your child/ren during this time, we will continue to use our dismissal
procedures that were put in place last week until the National Grid project is completed. Our staggered dismissal times and locations will be:
2:20pm
Bus Children
Kindergarten- Fowler Avenue Doors 2:25pm
4th grade-Fowler Avenue Doors8th grade-Rectory Door
2:30pm1st grade- Fowler Avenue Doors
7th grade- Rectory Door 2:35pm
2nd grade- Fowler Avenue Doors6th grade- Rectory Door
2:40pm3rd grade- Fowler Avenue Doors

Nursery and PreK will dismiss at their usual times and places. Since parking will not be available on Nieman Avenue these days, parking will be limited on
Fowler Avenue. We will be opening the schoolyard parking lot on Nieman Avenue for parents to park at approximately 2:15 pm. We will not be dismissing any students from the Merrick Road doors or the CYO door. All the students will be dismissed from the Fowler Avenue doors or the
rectory door. (See above staggered schedule) If you choose to park in the schoolyard lot on Nieman Avenue, please remember it is an active parking lot; use extreme caution when pulling in and out and follow the direction of the person directing traffic. You must park in a designated spot, and please do not create your own spot.
The entrance will be the gate closest to Merrick Road, and the exit will be the gate closest to the Early Childhood Center. The safest area to park is on Noble Street. It is the first left off of
Fowler Avenue. There should be plenty of parking along the street. All students must be accompanied by an adult when walking to the schoolyard parking lot. The
faculty and staff will remain outside to ensure all the students are safe and direct traffic. If you have difficulty finding a place to park, do not worry; the students will be by the office until
you arrive. We understand!
With our OLP family's support and patience, we can make dismissal safe and easy for the next few weeks.
SUPERMARKET VOUCHER FEE
The Supermarket Voucher fee for those families who have not participated will be added to your FACTS account and will be payable on June 10, 2021.
OLP CALENDAR FOR MARCH TO JUNE
UPDATED TRAVEL ADVISORY
Even though New York State has announced that the domestic and international travel quarantine will no longer be mandatory after April 1, 2021, please note, Though we do not
encourage traveling, our policies will reflect the updated state travel policy.
If you find yourself traveling or attending a large gathering, remember to exercise necessary social distancing and hygiene methods. The more positive cases we prevent, the sooner we can
return to normalcy. All travelers must continue to fill out the New York State Traveler Health Form and monitor for
signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Please remember how important it is to keep our school safe for everyone. Thank you for
everything you have all done so far and for your continued adherence to our9 policies.
REMOTE LEARNING REMINDER
OLP does not offer a hybrid learning model. We offer 5-day in-person instruction and 5-day remote instruction. Students may switch to remote learning for a COVID-related
issue. Any other students that “switch” to remote learning on a given day due to issues other than COVID will be marked absent. If your child is absent from school and would
like to “listen in” on remote learning Ms. Von Braunsberg and the faculty must have advanced notice, not the morning of.
Thank you for your understanding.
DISMISSAL SAFETY
1. Please be patient when cars are pulling over, pulling out, or trying to maneuver down Fowler and Nieman Avenues.
2. Do not make a three-point turn on Nieman Avenue. You are putting student’s and their parent's safety in jeopardy.
3. Do not make u-turns in front of or next to our school. It is illegal. 4. Do not park in the rectory driveway next to the PreK Center. You are blocking
an emergency exit, and you will be issued a summons. 5. If you are late to pick up your child due to parking, we understand. 6. Please follow the staggered dismissal schedule for your child.
With your patience, cooperation, and support, we can dismiss the students safely and keep the flow of traffic moving on Fowler and Nieman Avenue.

Prayer for Mrs. Fitzgerald
Please keep former 4th-grade teacher Mrs. Kristine (Simon) Fitzgerald’s family in your
prayers. After a tremendous battle with cancer, she was called to God. He gained another Angel.
Our OLP family was blessed to have Mrs. Fitzgerald as a teacher, colleague, and friend.
She touched so many lives in so many ways. Please pray for her husband Brian, son Aidan and daughter Madison.
They will need God’s comfort and strength. God, we come for comfort in our grief. The absence of Mrs. Fitzgerald creates within our
lives an emptiness that hurts. The darkness of grief clouds our vision and hides your light. Come to us. Hold us, heal us, and strengthen our weak spirits with sure faith in the
Resurrection. Amen
Most merciful God, whose wisdom is beyond our understanding, surround the family of Mrs. Fitzgerald, with your love that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss but have
confidence in your goodness and strength to meet the days to come. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.Lord of all gentleness, surround us with your care and comfort us in our sorrow, for we grieve at the loss of Mrs. Fitzgerald. As you washed her in the waters of baptism and welcomed her into the life of heaven, so call us one day to be united with her and share the joy of your kingdom
forever. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
Prayers for Mrs. Keane & Mrs. Daly
Embrace in your loving arms all who are grieving the loss of family and loved ones
through tragic circumstances; where lives are in turmoil, hope turns to despair, and pain
is all that’s felt. Be with them in their sorrow, uphold them with your strength, and
through the generosity of love shown by others and your presence within their hearts,
may they know they are not alone in their struggle through today.
In Jesus’ Name, we pray.
Amen
