Today you’ll be writing your diary recount using your notes. Look back on the resource I gave you Monday, for the recount example. This will help you. Again, just do your best. This doesn’t have to be exact. Have fun with it. Use your notes to help.

Year 1 - With support, children are to rehearse their sentences orally, and then record them to begin to retell the story from the little old lady’s point of view. You can use this resource is it helps. (Sentence stems to get started; sequenced pictures and a word bank) to help structure your diary.

Year 2 - Children are to rehearse orally, creating a plan of what they want to write. Then write your sentences retelling the story from the little old lady’s point of view. Can the children use adjectives and refer to her thoughts and feelings?

Year 3 - Children are to rehearse and write sentences retelling the story from the little old lady’s point of view. Can the children use dialogue to move the story along? Don’t forget inverted commas (speech marks).

Read out your diaries to a parent, sister/brother, or to yourself in role as the little old lady. How can you use your voice and expression to show her thoughts and feelings? Make sure you edit your work after reading it aloud. Do you have capital letters? Punctuation at the end of each sentence (full stop, question mark, exclamation mark). Do you have complete sentences? Can you add any more detail to make it sound better? Adjectives?

I’ll listen to these and look at some of your work during our Team Chat next week.
