OXSRAD is a unique facility that provides sports and recreation opportunities for those with disabilities. We are a fully equipped sports centre with specialist equipment and a range of full and part-time staff who coach, supervise and encourage those with disabilities to take part in a range of activities such as gym sessions, Young-at-Heart groups, boccia, etc. The whole community also use OXSRAD thus ensuring those with disabilities are integrated.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Identify grants and donations that OXSRAD can apply for from organisations and individuals. Prepare applications, approach the relevant organisations, follow-up on any queries from donors, track progress, prepare thank-you responses and reports (where required). Ensure that those donors who wish to be recognised are included in relevant material. The person would become the primary contact and interface with organisations such as NCVO, OCVA, etc., which support charities and their fund-raising efforts.

Lead the local fund-raising. This would include identifying and implementing opportunities such as special events, concerts, supermarket collections, street collections, bake sales, raffles, etc. The manager would be responsible for building contacts with local companies, colleges and other organisations to encourage their participation and support. The role would also include other fund-raising approaches such as gifting in wills, corporate sponsorship, receiving donations via credit card purchases and so on. The person would be supported in this area via a fund-raising committee.

REPORTING LINE AND BENEFITS

The job would report to Paul Saxton, Centre Manager.

It is expected that the role will require 15 hours per week (2 days). Place of work will be OXSRAD.

Salary will be £11/hour (approx. £21,500 annual equivalent). Holiday entitlement is will be 11.2 days per year (28 days full time equivalent - pro-rata for 2 days per week)

REQUIREMENTS

Strong knowledge of the charitable sector and with experience of identifying target donors and the optimal approach to them. The applicant will also prepare, submit, track and follow-up on all applications and any subsequent reporting requirements.

Ability to work well with others and co-operate with other members of staff to identify suitable new programmes.

Pro-active and happy to personally contact, meet and persuade others to the benefits that we offer our clients. Able to build up long-term constructive relationships. Ready to talk to the media to gain their support. An effective ambassador.

Passionate about the need that OXSRAD fulfills and keen to work with those who have a range of disabilities and with their carers.

Good computer skills in terms of word processing, spread sheets, presentations and ability to exploit social media.

Good at managing the detail. Applications require detailed follow-up and anticipation of future needs.

Because of our work with vulnerable adults and children, we require all staff members to have a DBS check.
