3.2 Text documents are made on one side of an A4 format sheet (210х297 mm) according to GOST 2.301; it is permitted, if needed, to use format A3 (297х420 mm) when making tables and illustrations.

3.3 Origins of text documents are made by one of the following methods:– hand-writing with the height of letters and figures not smaller than 2.5

mm. Figures and letters are to be written clearly (with drawing ink, ink or ballpoint pen of one color – dark-blue, violet, black) in the entire document;

– using colored pastes, ink in the same document, as well as underlining is not permitted;

– when using printing and graphic output devices to PC: print Times New Roman, usual, size 14, with a single line-spacing.

A graduation work (project) and a master’s/doctor’s thesis are to be printed using a computer and a printer on one side of a white A4 format paper sheet with a single line-spacing, usual print of size 14.

It is permitted to use computer possibilities for attention attraction to certain formulas, theorems by the way of changing various print types.

3.4 To enter in the text documents produced by the typewritten method of separate words, formulas, conventional signs in the hand-written way and to make illustrations is necessary with black drafting ink or ink.

3.5 The margins are to be left in all four parties of the sheet: left – 30 mm, top - 20 mm, right - 10 mm and lower - 25 mm.

Paragraphs in the text begin with a space equal to 7.5 mm of the hand-written text or from the fourth character of the text with the output to personal computer.

3.6 Typographical errors, slips and graphic inaccuracies are permitted to be corrected with an erasure or painting with white paint and drawing on the same place the corrected text (graphics) in the typewritten way or in the hand-written way (with black drafting ink or ink).

Damages of text documents sheets, blots and traces of not completely removed former text (graphics) are not permitted.

In documents there are to be used scientific and technical terms, designations and definitions established by the corresponding standards and if there no such standards, generally accepted in scientific and technical literature.

If in the document specific terminology is accepted, in the section "Definitions" (after the section "Standard Links") there is to be a list of the accepted terms with the corresponding explanations. The list is included in the table of contents of the document.

5.2.3 In the text of the document it is not permitted:– to use the locutions of informal speech, technical terms, professionalisms;– to use for the same concept various scientific technical terms, close in

meaning (synonyms), as well as foreign words and terms if there exist equivalent words and terms in Russian;

– to use any arbitrary word combinations;– to use abbreviations of words, except established by the rules of the

Russian spelling, the corresponding state standards;– to abbreviate designations of units of physical quantities if they are used

without figures, except for units of physical quantities in heads and the table stubs, and in interpretations of alphabetic references entering formulas and drawings.

5.2.4. In the text of the document, except for formulas, tables and drawings, it is not permitted:

– to use the mathematical sign of minus (–) before negative values of sizes (it is needed to write the word "minus");

– to use the sign "Ø'' for designation of diameter (it is needed to write the word "diameter"). When indicating the size or maximum deviations of diameter in the drawings placed in the text of the document before the dimensional number it is needed to write the sign "Ø";

– to use mathematical characters without numerical values, for example; > (more), < (less), = (equal), ≥ (more or equal), ="" ≤ (less or equal), ≠ (not equal), as well as signs № (number), % (percent);

– to use indexes of standards, specifications and other documents without thir registration number.

5.2.5 If in the document there are given explaining inscriptions applied directly on the produced product (for example, on planks, plates to elements of control, etc.), they are emphasized with a font (without quotes), for example: ON, OFF, or with quotes - if the inscription consists of figures and (or) signs.

Names of commands, modes, signals, etc. in the text should be emphasized with quotes, for example: "signal+27 turned on".

5.2.6 The list of the allowed abbreviations of words is established in GOST 2.316.

If in the document there is accepted a special system of words or names abbreviation, there is to be provided a list of the accepted abbreviations which is placed in the section "Designations and abbreviations" before the section

"Introduction".5.2.7 Reference alphabetic designations, images or characters are to

correspond to the accepted designations in the current legislation and state standards. In the text of the document before the parameter designation there is given its explanations, for example: "rupture resistance σв".

In need of using symbols, images or characters which are not established by the existing standards they should be explained in the text or in the list of designations.

5.2.8 In the document it is needed to use standardized units of physical quantities, their names and designation according to GOST 8.417.

Alongside with SI units, if needed, there are in brackets specified the units of the before used systems allowed for use. The use in one document of different systems of designation of physical quantities is not permitted.

5.2.9 In the text of the document numerical values of sizes with designation of units of physical quantities and tallies should be written in figures, and numbers without designation of units of physical quantities and tallies from unit to nine with words. Example 1

To carry out the tests of five pipes, each 5 meters long.Example 2 To select 15 pipes for testing for pressure.5.2.10 A unit of physical quantity of the same parameter within one

document is to be constant. If a number of the numerical values expressed in the same unit of physical quantity is given in the text, it is specified only after the last numerical value.

Example1.50; 1.75; 2.00 m.5.2.11 If there is provided the range of the numerical values of physical

quantities expressed in the same unit of physical quantity in the text of the document, the designation of the unit of physical quantity is specified after the last numerical value of the range.

Example 1from 1 to 5 mm or from 10 to 100 kgExample 2from +10 to -40 °С.Is inadmissible to separate the unit of physical quantity from the numerical

value (to transfer them to different lines or pages), except for the units of physical quantities placed in the tables executed in the typewritten way.

5.2.12 When presenting the greatest or smallest values of sizes, it is needed to use the phrase "is to be no larger (no smaller)".

When giving admissible values of deviations from the specified norms, requirements, it is needed to use the phrase "should not be larger (smaller)".

15

5.2.13 Numerical values of quantities should be specified in the text with the degree of accuracy which is needed for ensuring the demanded properties of the product, at this in a number of quantities there is made the leveling of the number of digits after comma.

Rounding the numerical values of quantities to the first, second, third, etc. decimal digit for various standard sizes, grades, etc. of products of one name is to be identical.

5.2.14 Fractional numbers are to be given in the form of decimal fractions, except for the values in inches which should be written down as

1/4", 1/2" (but not 14 , 1

2 ).If it is impossible to express a numerical value as a decimal fraction, it is

permitted to write it down in the form of simple fraction in one line with a virgule, for example: 5/32, (50A - 4S) / (408 + 20).

5.2.15 Explanations of symbols and numerical coefficients entering a formula if they are not explained in the text earlier are to be provided directly under the formula. Explanations of each symbol should be given beginning with a new line in that sequence in which symbols are given in the formula. The first line of the explanation is to begin with the word "where" without a paragraph space and a colon after it.

ExampleDensity of each sample р, kg/m3 is calculated by the formula:

p=m

v,

(1)where m is the sample mass, kg;

v is the sample volume, m3.5.2.16 Formulas and equations should be allocated from the text in a

separate line. Above and below each formula or equation there is to be left not less than one free line. If the equation doesn't find room in one line, it is to be transferred after an equal-sign (=) or after plus (+), minus (-), multiplication (x), division (:) signs or other mathematical characters, and the sign at the beginning of the next line is repeated.

5.2.17 In the documents published by not typographical way, formulas can be executed in the typewritten way or drawing font not smaller than 2,5 mm high. The use of typewritten and hand-written symbols in one formula is not permitted.

5.2.18 Formulas, except for the formulas placed in the appendix, are to be numbered by through numbering with Arab figures which are written down at

16

the level of the formula on the right in parentheses. One formula is designated as (1).

References in the text to serial numbers of formulas are given in brackets, for example: …in formula (1).

Formulas placed in appendices are to be numbered by separate numbering with Arab figures within each appendix with addition before each figure of designation of the appendix, for example: in formula (B.1).

Numbering of formulas within a section is permitted. In this case the number of the formula consists of the number of the section and serial number of the formula divided by a point, for example: (3.1).

5.2.19 The mathematical equations statement order in documents is similar to those of formulas.

5.2.20 The note is provided in documents if there are needed explanations or help data to the text content, tables or graphic material.

Notes shouldn't contain requirements. The word "Note" should be printed from the capital letter with a paragraph space with expanded spacing and not to be emphasized.

5.2.21 A note should be placed directly after the text, graphic material or in the table to which these notes concern.

5.2.22 One note in the text is preceded by the word "Note" placed at the beginning of the first line of the text of the note, the dash is put, and the note is printed beginning with a capital letter. Some notes are numbered one after another in Arab figures, for example: "Note 1", "Note 2", "Note 3", etc.

A note to the table is placed at the end of the table over the line designating the termination of the table according to Figures 15 and 18.

5.2.23 In the document the word "Example" at the beginning of the first line of the text of an example is to precede an example. If there are some examples in the same paragraph or subparagraph, they are to be designated: "Example 1", "Example 2", "Example 3", etc.

Example 1Note – The sizes concluded in brackets are not recommended for use.Example 2Note 1 The parts can be selected from more than one set. Note 2 Lamps are selected from among the types having broad

application.5.2.24 If there are links to other documents it is needed to specify the

document in general or its sections and appendices. Links to subsections, paragraphs, tables and illustrations are not allowed, except for subsections, paragraphs, tables and illustrations of this document.

If there are links to standards there are specified only their designations, at this it is permitted not to specify the year of their adopting under the condition of recording the designation with the year of adopting at the end of the text document under the heading "REFERENCE NORMATIVE DOCUMENTS"

If there are links to other documents in the column "Designation of the Document" there is also indicated the name of the document. If there are links to a section or an appendix, there is specified its number.

5.3 Preparation of illustrations and appendices

5.3.1 The number of illustrations is to be sufficient for the explanation of the stated text. Illustrations can be located both in the text of the document (possibly closer to the corresponding parts of the text), and directly after the text in which they are mentioned for the first time, or at the following page. Illustrations (drawings, maps, schedules, schemes, charts, pictures) are to be executed according to requirements of the USDD standards. Illustrations, except for illustrations of appendices, are to be numbered in Arab figures through numbering. If there is one Figure, it is designated "Figure 1".

Illustrations of each appendix are designated by separate numbering in Arab figures with addition before the figure of the appendix designation, for example "Figure A.3".

It is permitted to number illustrations within the section. In this case the number of an illustration consists of the number of the section and serial number of the illustration divided by a point, for example: Figure 1.1.

If there are links to illustrations, it is needed to write: "... according to Figure 2" with the through numbering and "... according to Figure 1.2" when numbering is within the section.

Illustrations, if needed, can have the name and explaining data (caption) placed in the center. The word "Figure" and the name are placed after the explaining data under the drawing as follows:

Figure 1 – Device partsIllustrations are to be separated from the main text when performing in the

hand-written way – 8 mm, with output to PC – 1 enter.5.3.2 If in the text of the document there is an illustration in which there are

represented the product components, in this illustration there are to be numbers of positions of these components within this illustration in the increasing order,

18

Page 19: €¦ · Web viewRK ST 1042 – 2001 Organizational-managerial documentation. requirements to preparation of documents. GOST 2.104 – 2006 USDD. Basic inscriptions. GOST 2.105 –

except for the repeating positions, and for electro- and radioelements - the position designations established in schemes of this product are to be specified.

If there is a link in the text to separate elements of parts (openings, grooves, flutes, fillets, etc.), they are designated with capital letters of the Russian alphabet. The specified data are put in illustrations according to GOST 2.109.

5.3.3 All illustrations in the document are to be executed in the black color (a pencil, drafting ink, ink, paste).

5.3.4 The material supplementing the text of the document is permitted to be placed in appendices. Appendices can be, for example: graphic material, table of a large format, calculations, descriptions of the equipment and devices, descriptions of algorithms and programs, etc.

An appendix is made as the continuation of the document at the subsequent sheets or issue it in the form of an independent document.

5.3.5 In the text of the document for all appendices there are to be given references. Appendices are placed in the text in the order of the references.

5.3.6 Each appendix should be begun at a new page with indication in the top middle of the page of the word "Appendix" and its designation.

An appendix is to have the heading which is written down symmetrically relating the text beginning with a capital letter in a separate line.

5.3.7 An appendix is designated with capital letters of the Russian alphabet, beginning with A, except for letters Ё, 3, Й, О, Ч, Ь, Ы, Ъ. After the word "Appendix” there follows its sequence letter designation.

In case of full use of letters of the Russian alphabet, appendices are designated in Arab figures (for example, Appendix 1, Appendix 2).

If in the document there is one Appendix, it is designated as "Appendix A".5.3.8 Appendices are, as a rule, made on A4 sheets. It is permitted to make

appendices on sheets A3, A4x3, A4x4, A2 and A1 in accordance with GOST 2.301.

5.3.9 The text of each appendix, if needed, can be divided into sections, subsections, paragraphs, subparagraphs which are numbered within each appendix. Before the number there is put the designation of this appendix.

Appendices are to have the common with the other part of the document through numbering of pages.

5.3.10 All appendices are to be listed in the table of contents of the document with indication of their numbers and headings.

5.4 Rules of making diagrams (charts)

The charts placed in the text are to conform to the requirements of the USDD standards which establish the basic rules of implementation of charts representing functional dependence of two or more variables in the system of coordinates.

5.4.1 The values connected by the represented functional dependence should

19

Page 20: €¦ · Web viewRK ST 1042 – 2001 Organizational-managerial documentation. requirements to preparation of documents. GOST 2.104 – 2006 USDD. Basic inscriptions. GOST 2.105 –

be placed on the axes of coordinates in the form of scales.Charts for the information image of functional dependences are permitted to

be carried out without scales of values.The charts without scales of the coordinates axis are needed tobe finished

with arrows specifying the directions of increasing the values.It is permitted to use such arrows also in charts with scales - outside the

scales.5.4.2 Values of variables should be placed on the axes of coordinates in

linear or nonlinear (for example: logarithmic) image scales. Charts without scales should be carried out in all directions of coordinates in the linear scale of the image.

As a scale it is needed to use a coordinate axis or the line of a coordinate grid which limits the chart field.

In the charts representing some functions of various variables as well as in charts in which the same variable is to be expressed in various units at the same time, it is permitted to use as scales both coordinate axes, and the lines of a coordinate grid limiting the field of the chart or (and) the straight lines located parallel to coordinate axes.

5.4.3 Near the divisions of a grid or dividing strokes corresponding to the beginning and the end of the scale there are to be specified corresponding numbers (values). If the reference mark of scales is zero, it should be specified once at the point of intersection of scales. The dividing strokes corresponding to multiple graphic intervals are permitted to be extended.

The numbers should be placed with scales out of the field of the chart horizontally.

It is permitted to put, if needed, the numbers at scales in the chart field.5.4.4 Charts should be made with lines in accordance with GOST 2.303. The

group of lines should be selected taking into account the complexity, size and purpose of the chart. The axes of coordinates, axes of scales are to be made with a continuous main line. Lines of the coordinate grid and dividing strokes should be made with a continuous thin line. The functional dependence should be made on a chart with a continuous line of 2s thickness. In cases when in one common chart there are represented two or more functional dependences, it is permitted to represent these dependences with lines of various types in accordance with GOST 2.303 (for example: with continuous and shaped).

5.4.5 Variables should be specified by one of the next ways:– by a symbol;– by a name;– by name and symbol;– by mathematical expression of functional dependence.In the chart with scales the designation of values is needed to be placed in

the middle of the scale from its outer side, and when designating a symbol with designation of a unit of measure in the form of fraction - at the end of the scale

20

Page 21: €¦ · Web viewRK ST 1042 – 2001 Organizational-managerial documentation. requirements to preparation of documents. GOST 2.104 – 2006 USDD. Basic inscriptions. GOST 2.105 –

after the last number.In the chart without scales the designation of values are needed to be placed

near the arrow with which the axis finishes. Designations in the form of symbols and mathematical expressions are needed to be placed horizontally, designations in the form of names or names and symbols - parallel to the corresponding axes.

5.4.6 Units of measure should be put by one of the next ways:– at the end of the scale between the last and penultimate numbers of scales;

at the lack of place it is permitted not to put a penultimate number;– together with the name of a variable after a comma;– at the end of the scale, after the last number with designation of a variable

in the form of fraction in which in the numerator there is put the variable designation, and in the denominator – the designation of a unit of measure.

Units of measure of angles (degrees, minutes, seconds) should be put but once - at the last number of the scale.

If needed, it is permitted to put them at each number of the scale.The example of preparing a chart is given in Appendix M.

5.5 Table structure

5.5.1 Tables are used for the best presentation and convenience of comparison of indicators. The name of the table, if any, is to reflect its content, to be exact, short. The name of the table should be placed over the table with a paragraph space on the next line after the words "Table 1" and to have over the table the spacing equal to 8 mm when performed by the hand-written way, and 1 enter with output to personal computer.

5.5.2 The table is needed to be placed directly after the text in which it is mentioned for the first time, or at the following page.

Tables are to be separated from the main text with a spacing equal to 8 mm when performed by the hand-written way, and 1 enter with the output to the personal computer.

When transferring the part of the table at the same or other pages the name is placed only over the first part of the table.

Digital material is made out, as a rule, in the form of tables according to Figure 2.

Figure 2 – Preparation of tables5.5.3 Tables, except for tables of appendices, are needed to be numbered in

Arab figures through numbering.Tables of each appendix are designated with separate numbering in Arab

figures with addition before the figure of the appendix designation.If in the document there is one table, it is to be designated "Table 1" or

"Table B.1" if it is given in Appendix B.It is permitted to number tables within a section. In this case the number of

the table consists of the number of the section and serial number of the table divided by a point, for example "Table 1.2".

5.5.4 To all the tables of the document there are to be given references in the text of the document, if there is a link it is necessary to write the word "Table" with indication of its number.

5.5.5 Headings of columns and lines of the table should be written beginning with a capital letter, and subtitles of columns - with a low-case letter if they make one sentence with the heading, or with a capital letter if they have independent values.

At the end of headings and subtitles of tables there is not put the point. Headings and subtitles of columns are specified in singular.

5.5.6 On the left, on the right and below the tables are, as a rule, limited by lines.

It is forbidden to divide headings and subtitles of sidewalls and columns with diagonal lines.

The horizontal and vertical lines differentiating the lines of a table are permitted not to be made if their absence doesn't complicate the use of the table.

Headings of columns are written down, as a rule, parallel to the lines of the table. If needed, there is permitted perpendicular arrangement of headings of columns.

The head of the table is to be separated by a line from other part of the table.The height of lines of the table is to be not smaller than 8 mm, font – Times

New Roman, usual, size no smaller than 10, a single line spacing.5.5.7 The table, depending on its size, is placed under the text in which there

is for the first time given a reference to it, or at the following page, and if needed, in the appendix to the document.

It is permitted to place the table along the long part of the sheet of the document.

5.5.8 If lines or columns of the table go beyond the page format, it is divided into parts, placing one part under another or nearby, art this in each part of the table there is repeated its heading and stub. When dividing the table into parts it is permitted to replace its head or stub respectively by the number of columns and lines. At this there are numbered in Arab figures the columns and (or) the lines of the first part of the table.

The table with a large number of lines is permitted to be transferred to other

over the table it is needed to write the name of the prevailing indicator and designation of its physical quantity, for example: "sizes in millimeters", "voltage in Volts" and to provide the name of indicators and (or) designation of other units of physical quantities in subtitles of other columns according to Figure 5.

For the reduction of the headings text of and columns subtitles separate concepts are replaced with the alphabetic references established by GOST 2.321 or other designations if they are explained in the text or are given in illustrations, for example: D - diameter, H - height, L - length.

Indicators with the same alphabetic reference are grouped consistently in the ascending order of indexes according to Figure 5.

5.5.11 The restrictive words "more", "no more", "less", "not less" and others have to be placed in one line or the column of the table with the name of the corresponding indicator after designation of its unit of physical quantity if they belong to the entire line or column.

At this after the name of an indicator before the restrictive words there is put a comma according to Figures 5 and 6.

5.5.12 Designations of units of physical quantity that is general for all the data in the line are needed to be specified after its name according to Figure 6. It is permitted, if needed, to take out in a separate line (column) the designation of a unit of physical quantity.

5.5.13 If in the column of the table there are placed the values of the same physical quantity, the designation of a unit of physical quantity is specified in the heading (subtitle of this column) according to Figure 7. The numerical values identical to several lines are permitted to be specified once according to Figures 5 and 7.

If numerical values are expressed in columns of the table in different units of physical quantity, their designations are specified in the subtitle of each column.

The designations given in the headings of columns of the table are to be explained in the text or graphic material of the document.
