Right click the network icon and click open network and sharing centre.

click change adapter settings on the left.

right click local area connection and click properties

Double click internet protocol version 4

Now enter the IP range on each machine:

Laptop 1: 192.168.0.1

Laptop 2: 192.168.0.2

Laptop 3: 192.168.0.3

Laptop 4: 192.168.0.4

Creating and joining a home group. Now we can create and create / join a Home Group for our peer to peer network.

NOTE: The laptop on IP range 192.168.0.1 needs to create the home group, this will create a unique password. This

is used for security, the other laptops will need to join the home group and use this unique password to join.

tick documents and click next

Write down this password as you will need it to connect the other computers to the homegroup.

Now you need to test that the laptops on the new network can communicate with one another. This can be done by opening the command prompt:

Click start and type: cmd (then hit enter)

Next type: ping 192.168.0. the last digit will be another laptop on the network so for example if you are IP: 192.168.0.1 then ping 192.168.0.2
