Research. For my final project I will carry out research to make sure my product meets the target audience’s expectations and my project meets its purpose. I want to create a radio drama based on crime and discrimination against ethnic minorities in London. The purpose of my project is to inform people on the effect that intolerance behaviour has on ethnic minorities and also to embrace ethnic cultures and backgrounds. My target audience for this project are male teenagers aged 13 to 19 who come from social grades of D and E who are prone to the gang and violence lifestyle to show them how that life can affect them in the future and hopefully encouraging them to change their ways. My secondary audience are people in the industry aged between 35 and 45 form social grades C1 and B who may be oblivious to the fact that gang and violence are lifestyles for young teenagers of all and any races. To create my final project I will need a voice recorder and a microphone. This is what I will use record my radio dramas. I will also use a computer to edit all my raw footage and also use it to add secondary sound that I may want to include in my drama. For a storyline, I will be watching top boy, crash and bullet boy to observe the real life issues, gain inspiration from them. So far for my storyline: - Three boys - Best friends - Different races - One black one Asian and one white - They all lead different lifestyles - All boys are involved in gang, drug and violence. - They all apply for a football academy however only white boy gets accepted. - The black and Asian boy are furious. Primary research: - I can conduct a survey to find out how about the different interests ethnic minorities have and I can also conduct another survey to see how many of them have had opportunities to pursue their career goals and compare the two in a graph. - I can have focus groups from my chosen target audience explaining my idea to them and asking them for their opinions and things they might want to change about my idea to make it appeal to them. Primary research is very useful to me as I can get first-hand information directly from my target audience and use their opinions to improve my project so that it appeals to them. Research. For my final project I will carry out research to make sure my product meets the target audience’s expectations and my project meets its purpose.I want to create a radio drama based on crime and discrimination against ethnic minorities in London. The purpose of my project is to inform people on the effect that intolerance behaviour has on ethnic minorities and also to embrace ethnic cultures and backgrounds. - Three boys- Best friends- Different races- One black one Asian and one white- They all lead different lifestyles- All boys are involved in gang, drug and violence. - They all apply for a football academy however only white boy gets accepted.- The black and Asian boy are furious.

Primary research: - I can conduct a survey to find out how about the different interests ethnic minorities

have and I can also conduct another survey to see how many of them have had opportunities to pursue their career goals and compare the two in a graph.

- I can have focus groups from my chosen target audience explaining my idea to them and asking them for their opinions and things they might want to change about my idea to make it appeal to them.

Primary research is very useful to me as I can get first-hand information directly from my target audience and use their opinions to improve my project so that it appeals to them.Secondary Research:

- Read existing playwrights (online/books) that are based on the same topic/genre and see how they have structured their story.

- Read information about my target audience online and what percentage are doing what kind of jobs and find out what groups of people have what opportunities.

The secondary research is useful as it already exists so it consumes less of my time. Although it is quick and cheap, sometimes I couldn’t find the information that I needed or I would receive irrelevant information. Secondary research sources. These are the sources from the information I found useful to me.

this graph shows the rate of crime in London. The statistics show that the most common crime within youths are theft and handling and violence. Because these are common issues in London involving youths, I will base my radio drama in==on these topics. This source is very useful and reliable as it is statistics taken from the metropolitan police and it gives me a lot of information such as the change in crime over the year and where in the country certain crimes are common.

This is a part of an article about football managers in England. This shows the names of the different managers in the country which reveals that there aren’t any black football managers in the country although 25% of players in the premiere and football league are black.

This is an article about a black football having to end his career because of his violent past catching up to him. This goes to show that ethnic minorities don’t stand a chance in getting away from their bad habits and making a career for themselves.
