Hendon Town Hall Registration Service Relocation

Introduction

London Borough of Barnet’s Assets, Regeneration and Growth Committee has agreed to move the Barnet Registration Service from its current location in Burnt Oak to Hendon Town Hall.

In order to facilitate this move, building work will take place at Hendon Town Hall to create additional work space and meeting rooms for the Registration Service.

A Listed Building Consent application has been submitted to the Planning Authority to enable the building work to take place at Hendon Town Hall.

The building work is estimated to commence in November 2016, and the Registration Service will look to move when the work is complete.

photocopy room will be modified to create a secure room for registrar records.

A. Hendon Town Hall offers an improved space for Barnet residents to record births, deaths, marriages and nationality registrations. Hendon Town Hall is a historic Grade II listed building and provides a better environment for matrimonial and civil partnership ceremonies. Hendon Town Hall is in a more central location and has good public transport links.

A. Yes, building work will be required to create two new registrar meeting rooms on the ground floor, and to create a new office space for the Barnet Governance team in committee room 3 on the first floor. In addition, the current photocopy room on the ground floor will be modified to create a secure room for

registrar documents and records. To enable these works, a planning application (known as Listed Building Consent) has been submitted.

Q. When will the Registration Service move from Burnt Oak to Hendon Town Hall?

A. The building work will start in November 2016, and it is anticipated that the Registration Service will move into Hendon Town Hall in early 2017.

Q. Will Hendon Town Hall be closed during the building work?

A. The building contractor will work carefully to ensure Hendon Town Hall remains open and functioning as normal during the building work. Stakeholders will be notified when the final work programme is agreed.
