Third class homework plan: week commencing 27 th April Dear Rang a trí, I hope that you and your families are all keeping well and that you had a lovely Easter. This is a very unusual time for us all and I know that it is very hard being away from your friends and families but as you know, we have to do this to keep everybody safe and well. I just wanted to let you know that you are all doing a super job so keep it up! I have included some more work below which I would like you to complete. Missing you all. Stay safe, Ms McGuirk. Please ask a parent to take a picture of your work and email it to this address: [email protected] If you do not have exercise copies for any of the subjects at home with you, a piece of paper will suffice but please ensure that you write the title for all of your work and don’t forget the date also. I am really interested to see the hard work that you put into your Geography project on Poland over the past few weeks. Can you please ask a parent to take a picture of your project and email it to me by Monday 4 th of May. As with the other plans, I have included a section of ‘additional work’ which is optional but

Third class homework plan: week commencing 27th April

Dear Rang a trí,

I hope that you and your families are all keeping well and that you had a lovely Easter. This is a very unusual time for us all and I know that it is very hard being away from your friends and families but as you know, we have to do this to keep everybody safe and well. I just wanted to let you know that you are all doing a super job so keep it up! I have included some more work below which I would like you to complete.

Missing you all. Stay safe,

Ms McGuirk.

Notes:

Each day I would like you to submit your favourite piece of work from that day. Please ask a parent to take a picture of your work and email it to this address: [email protected]

If you do not have exercise copies for any of the subjects at home with you, a piece of paper will suffice but please ensure that you write the title for all of your work and don’t forget the date also.

I am really interested to see the hard work that you put into your Geography project on Poland over the past few weeks. Can you please ask a parent to take a picture of your project and email it to me by Monday 4th of May.

As with the other plans, I have included a section of ‘additional work’ which is optional but encouraged. This work can be completed at any stage over the course of the next two weeks. (See page 7 of this document).

Additional work/list of suggested activities:

Write down as many ‘bossy’ words as you can in 30 seconds (remember bossy words tell you to do something for example: add, put, stir, mix. We have to use bossy words in our procedural writing).

Procedural writing- based on the theme of ‘farming’. Some suggestions include; ‘how to sow potatoes’, ‘how to sow carrots’, ‘how to feed a baby lamb’, ‘how to clean out a stable’ etc…

Keep a diary and write a short entry every day. (Don’t forget to write the date!) Imagine how interesting this will be to read back over in years to come!

Maths: create a 2-D scene and challenge someone in your family to identify where all of the shapes are.

Challenge yourself to learn a tune of your choice off by heart on the tin whistle and perform it for your family.

Keep fit by completing five exercises of your choice everyday (e.g. jumping jacks, high knees, jog on the spot etc…) or do the online P.E. classes with Joe Wicks on YouTube every morning from 9am. (Search The Body Coach TV).

Play a game of ‘Panic!’ This game is on the Tracey Clifford show on RTÉ 2fm every day, Monday-Friday at 2:35/2:40. You do not have to play the game at this time every day but it may help to listen to how the game works once or twice. In a nutshell, Tracey gives the listener a letter of the alphabet (e.g. ‘a’), she sets 30 seconds on the clock and will read out a list of categories (e.g. girl’s name, boy’s name, household item, job, place, random word etc…). For each category, the player must identify a word beginning with the specified letter that belongs in that category.

Bark/Leaf rubbings art activity. (In last week’s Nationalist- Tuesday 21 March or see picture below).

Weaving well-being. Look at the journal on the school website and complete some of the activities. https://www.otb.ie/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/At-Home-with-Weaving-Well-being-A-Mental-Health-Journal-for-Kids.pdf

Some useful websites:

FolensOnline.ie- Folens have given parents open access to all of the children’s books available on this website, along with digital resources.

TopMarks- this is an excellent website which allows the children to practise their tables in a fun, engaging way. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

Scoilnet- this website also offers some valuable resources. https://www.scoilnet.ie/scoilnet/news/article/news/detail/News/des-announcement-and-scoilnet-supports/

Teanglann.ie- this is an online Irish dictionary which I find very useful and would highly recommend it. The ‘foghraíocht’ section gives you the pronunciation of whatever word you search which will be very beneficial when completing the Gaeilge work assigned. I have included some screenshots below which can be used as a guide.
