Introduction

I chose the topic of The Holocaust because I feel like everyone should know at least a little bit about the Holocaust. It is very important part of History. Everyone should be educated about the Holocaust. I don’t want it to be brushed under the rug like other important parts of history has been. I know some people aren’t as interested in the Holocaust as I am, but I don’t think it would hurt anyone to atleast try to educate temsevles about it.

Rationale

Creative Pieces

“The Holocaust” (picture book): I created this writing because I think it’s a good visual representation of what occurred during the Holocast.

“The Ghost of Holocaust Past” (Ghost Story): I created this writing because it was a fun, creative and also fiction way to talk about the Holocaust. I used real things, like th setting, but twisted it.

Transactive Pieces

“Certificate of Death” (Certificate): I created this writing because it was a detailed, but not too complicated way of showing how many Jewish people died during the Holocaust.

“Holocaust Eulogy” (Eulogy): I created this writing because it was a nice way of remembering what happened during the Holocaust. It makes you feel like you’re actually at the funeral.

Artistic Visual

“Star Of David Visual” (Word Cloud): I created this piece of art because the star of david was important to the Jewish people, but inside the star of david shows words that go along with the Holocaust.

Research Paper

“Auschwits: The Worst Concentration Camp” (Research Paper): I created this writing because it allowed me to do reaearch on the most dangerous concentration camp.

The Ghost of Holocaust Past (Ghost Story)

There was once a man by the name of Adolph Hitler he had so much hate for so many people, especially Jewish people. About 83 years ago the most horrific thing occurred. The Holocaust. And at the center of it all was Hitler. He caused one of the most horrific genocides in History. He and his followers, also known as “Nazi’s”, tortured so many Jewish people. They would starve them, burn them, put them in gas chambers and point blank shoot them just because they looked a little different.

Hitler didn’t have a heart, and neither did his followers. They were all filled with so much hate. But this story isn’t about Hitler; he gets too much satisfaction out of people talking about him. This is about the millions of Jewish ghosts that still roam the streets of Germany 83 years later.

The ghosts aren’t mean people. They are trying the live the lives Hitler took from them so long ago. People have said to have seen people dressed like they would have 80 years ago; they still have the yellow stars on their jackets saying they’re Jewish. One man had said he witnessed a small group of what seemed to be Jewish ghosts standing outside of the Auschwitz concentration camps holding each other. They were remembering the hell they went through during their stay at the camps. The man could hear them talking about what all they had been through and how terrible they had been treated, they wanted to die. Some say you can’t communicate with ghosts, but this man said he spoke to them. He walked up the group of ghost because he couldn’t believe what he was seeing; he had to get a closer look. He remembers them at first being frightened; they had never been able to have conversations with a person before.

He asked them tons of questions and they all answered him, so eager to finally be able to tell their sides, not information based off of what the U.S. troops had found or what survivors could tell people, they wanted to tell their stories, the ghosts of the Holocaust. The hosts told him all about everything. From them being bought into the camps to them dying. He could barely take it, he couldn’t listen to these poor souls tell him about how they died and the torture they endured. But the ghosts never shed a tear, he asked the why? How can’t you be upset telling me about this? They told him it was a part of their history, a part of their life. They told him they didn’t hate Hitler because if they did, they would be just a bad as he was. Hate was what caused all of this.

The man really never had any interest in the Holocaust. To him, it was just another lesson in history, but after hearing these ghosts speak about It, he then realized it wasn’t just a piece of history, it was something everyone should know about. That day in front of the Auschwitz concentration camp, he talked to the ghost forever. Some laughed with him, some cried, and other just wanted to talk. He still sees them from time to time, standing in front of the camp

holding each other, remembering what happened to them 83 years ago. How their perfect lives turned to hell because one man didn’t like people that were different.

Holocaust Eulogy (Eulogy)

Millions of Jewish people have lost their lives at the hands of Hitler and his folowers. Hitler

would torture them. But we cant take this time to talk about Hitle: he would be satisified in

knowing we talk about hi, that’s what he wants. We are here today to keep these peoples

memories alive. We are here to talk about these people before this horrible genocide occurred.

They were all just people us, living their life like normal people, util it was all turned upside

down. Each and every person had family and friends that loved them dearly. We cannot

remember them as people that died during the Holocaust;we have to remember them as people

like us. We cannot remember them on how Hitler would want us to remember them; we have to

remember them as people, ot as a number. As we sit here and weep about their lost lives, we

have to remember them as the amazing people they were and how strong they erre. We will

forever remember these people, not to be forgotten.

Auschwitz: The Worst Concentration Camp

Auschwitz Concentration camps housed millions of Jewish people during the Holocaust

which began in 1933 and ended in 1944. Auschwitz is considered the worst concentration camp

out of the 23 main camp, mainly because of the number of deaths, the way the Jewish people

were tortured, and the was the Jewish people were killed. Auschwitz was one of 23 main

concentration camps in the Holocaust. Nearly 1.1 million Jewish people died at the Auschwitz

concentration camp just from being gassed, it’s unclear as to how many in total died from at this

specific camp, but based on the number of gassing it is clear that more died here than any other

camp, making it the largest and most deadly camps. Auschwitz was also considered the worst

concentration because of the way The Nazi’s tortured the Jewish people; they would starve them

until they eventually died. Auschwitz was also considered the worst concentration camp because

of the way Jewish people were killed; they would die from being burned and being put in gas

chambers.

Auschwitz had the largest death rate. Auschwitz became the largest number of Jewish

Deaths (Auschwitz Concentration Camp). 1.1 million Jews were gassed at Auschwitz, that’s

more than the twenty-three other concentration camps. The 1.1 million deaths is only from being

put in gas chambers, it is unclear how many people died in total. Many people died at Auschwitz.

It was the largest camp which explains why so many prisoners died there. At Auschwitz there

Page 13: tchsmcdonald15.weebly.comtchsmcdonald15.weebly.com/.../mgp_-_sample_project__t…  · Web viewHitler didn’t have a heart, and neither did his followers. They were all filled with

were more deaths than any other camps, the Nazi’s felt that Gas Chambers were the fastest and

more effective way to kill the Jewish people.

Jewish people were tortured at Auschwitz by being starved. “The lack of food, poor diet

and hard labor caused the prisoners to suffer from starvation sickness. They lost weight and

muscle tissue and many thousands died” (The Holocaust Explained). The Nazi’s would starve

the prisoners. “After morning roll call the prisoners would be given their morning ‘meal’ –

imitation coffee or herbal ‘tea’. For lunch prisoners would be given a liter of watery soup. If they

were lucky, they might find a piece of turnip or potato peel” (The Holocaust Explained).

Sometimes the prisoners would go days without eating, and when they did eat, they got very

little food. Without food the prisoners would became very weak and wouldn’t be able to finish

their work, which would make the Nazi’s angry and end in the prisoners being beaten.

Eventually, the prisoners would die; most would die from starvation, other from being beaten

because they didn’t have enough strength to do their work.

Auschwitz concentration camp was used to kill Jewish people by gas chambers.

Shooting, and burning them. One of the most effective was using a gas chamber, you could put

many people in other chamber, and it would take long for them to die. However, burning the

prisoners became a very effective way of killing the Jewish people. The Nazis' experimented

with another methodology using carbon monoxide. The Nazi’s would fill up a van known as the

“Hell van” with many prisoners. Once they arrived the spot where the burnings would take place

the bodies were burned or buried. A polish woman by the name of Zofia Szalek once described

what she had witnessed. Szalek states that “We could hear the screams, but we couldn't see the

people. They were loaded in and murdered there. It was hell. That's why we called these vans

'Hell Vans'" (Szalek). Burning the victims became one of the most effective ways of killing the

prisoners.

Auschwitz was considered the worst concentration camp for many reasons, but the three

main reasons was because of the death numbers, the torture, and the ways of killing the

prisoners. Auschwitz was the largest and most deadly concentration camps out of the 23 main

camps, partly because of the size, but also because of how horrific it was. Auschwitz and the

Holocaust in general will always be considered one of the worst genocides in history. Auschwitz

will always be the worst and most deadly concentration camps in the Holocaust.
