Think carefully about the character that you know the best. Follow the format below to assist you in writing your poem. Be sure to use only the best, most pertinent language to help describe and analyze your character. When you finish writing, illustrate your poem. Your poem will be graded on creativity, neatness, diction (word choice), and specificity. If you get stuck, look at the example from Of Mice and Men on the back of this page. Bio Poem Format: Line 1: First name only of the main character Line 2: Four adjectives that describe the main character (Word choice matters! Don’t use generic words like happy, sad, nice, etc.) Line 3: Son/Daughter of… (names of the main character’s parents) - If you don’t know the main character’s parents, you can do Brother, Sister, Husband, Wife, or Friend of. Line 4: Who loves... (name at least two people, things, activities, etc., that the character loves) Line 5: Who finds happiness in (tell something that makes the main character happy) Line 6: Who is able to… (tell something that is unique to the main character) Line 7: Who needs… (tell what your character needs to feel satisfied or successful) Line 8: Who fears… (fears do not need to be real things--they can be ideas or feelings)

Bio Poem Format:

Line 1: First name only of the main character

Line 2: Four adjectives that describe the main character (Word choice matters! Don’t use generic words like happy, sad, nice, etc.)

Line 3: Son/Daughter of… (names of the main character’s parents) - If you don’t know the main character’s parents, you can do Brother, Sister, Husband, Wife, or Friend of.

Line 4: Who loves... (name at least two people, things, activities, etc., that the character loves)

Line 5: Who finds happiness in (tell something that makes the main character happy)

Line 6: Who is able to… (tell something that is unique to the main character)
