$5 Million Goal Met! Parmly Billings Library’s “Our City…Our Future…Your Legacy” capital campaign has met its initial goal of raising $5 million to help build a new library – congratulations to all our donors and supporters! “The night the bond passed was incredibly exciting,” said Bill Cochran, Director of the Parmly Billings Library. “It was wonderful being around all our volunteers when we heard the good news – everyone shouted, cheered and celebrated our new library.” “The bond passing is a victory for the entire county,” said Evelyn Noennig, Bond Initiative Co-chair. “A new Parmly Billings Library is now a reality, and with $5 million pledged to the campaign, our new library will be even nicer and less expensive for property tax payers.” The Parmly Billings Library Foundation initial $5 million goal will be used to offset the cost of the bond. As the campaign continues additional donations will be used to pay down the bond further AND make improvements to the new library.

“It was wonderful being around all our volunteers when we heard the good news – everyone shouted, cheered and celebrated our new library.”

“The bond passing is a victory for the entire county,” said Evelyn Noennig, Bond Initiative Co-chair. “A new Parmly Billings Library is now a reality, and with $5 million pledged to the campaign, our new library will be even nicer and less expensive for property tax payers.”

The Parmly Billings Library Foundation initial $5 million goal will be used to offset the cost of the bond. As the campaign continues additional donations will be used to pay down the bond further AND make improvements to the new library.

Congratulations to You!

Because of your investment, you built community confidence. Because of your commitment, you brought others into the winner’s circle. Because of your belief in the citizens of Billings, you pledged your support right through to the bond election. BILLINGS WILL HAVE THE BEST LIBRARY, because of YOU.

The Library Board is in awe of your largess. You donated more than $5 million in less than six months, virtually insuring the passage of the bond issue. But in addition to your financial support, you stood steadfast when some said that libraries are obsolete. You know that Libraries are integral to the American Ideal: the freedom, for all, to learn.

One among you made the “no money back” guarantee that Billings would have a new library by donating $2 million. This opened the door to hiring a leading architect for design and construction documents so we can have a new library for Christmas 2013.

The most advanced technology company in our region is providing their support and expertise so that EVERYONE has access to state-of-the-art computers and software.

Families and teens and babies will each have their special place. There will be rooms and gardens and sun-lit chairs and warm coffee. People will attend classes, see demonstrations, read beautiful books, research complex subjects, and take home the feeling of community pride. The Parmly Billing Library Board of Directors salutes you for bringing a new library to our city.

Parmly Billings Library Board Chair, Shari Nault

From the Capital Campaign ChairsThe “Our City … Our Future … Your Legacy” campaign was a success. The day before the election, the Kendeda Fund, an Atlanta-based foundation that supports environmental, social and civic causes, pushed us over the $5 million goal with their grant. This set the tone for the ballot passing and a new library building becoming a reality.

We cannot begin to express our gratitude for your support. You believed in this project! Your enthusiasm and energy fueled the fund raising for, not an old and renovated library, but a new, bright, efficient and flexible library that will grow with us and our children well into the future.

We thank the 30-plus Capital Campaign Committee members who encouraged community leaders to pledge their support. We thank the Parmly Billings Library Foundation Board for their courage and vision. We congratulate Suzanne McKiernan and Evelyn Noennig for running a successful ballot initiative campaign. We thank Hilltop Public Solutions, especially Molly Bell, for their strategic expertise in the bond initiative. We are confident that Foundation Board President Cara Schaer’s leadership will safeguard everyone’s hard work and guide us into a new chapter. Finally, we are forever grateful to Bill Cochran, Library Director, and Leslie Modrow, Foundation Development Director, for their ceaseless guidance, support, patience, and fortitude in leading a group of volunteers to success.

“Our City … Our Future … Your Legacy” has been put into motion for a bright and promising future thanks to you!
