ART - Year 7 Portraits Summer term(ALL WORK MUST BE OF A HIGH STANDARD!)

Upon return to school, your Art teachers will be looking for a portfolio (collection of all your pieces of art work) which can be stuck into your sketchbook.

You were asked to complete the following:

By now you may have: a range of research/ drawings of eyes, lips and nose. have completed artist research on Lea Nahon or Vince Low. have completed a copy of either artist work have completed a self-portrait as a final piece.

(If you do not have paper, be creative!! Draw on old receipts, post it notes, baking sheet paper, kitchen tissue, newspaper, cardboard box envelopes!!) Keep all the pages the same size.

CHALLENGE: Create your own sketchbook. Look at Pinterest for some ideas on how to bind the pages together.

Please work back into pieces that have not been completed or started. Think about resources that can help you with improving your work, look on You Tube, Pinterest and Instagram to get inspiration from other artists.

Your final self-portrait (set in Week beginning) may have an empty background? Your self-portrait must remain in pencil. Complete a background (look at the examples on the left). This could be:

Your bedroom (complete with tones and plenty of detail) Background from a chosen art piece (look on the internet, Pinterest,

Instagram) Your favourite CD/ game cover

Your background can either be completed in pencil or coloured with a media (e.g paints, crayons, colouring pencil etc.) that you have available.

CHALLENGE: Your background can be collaged with found materials or from magazines.

8th June and 15th June Continue with the background for your self-portrait.

Ask a family member/ person to model these facial expressions:

Angry Surprised happy Sad

Complete 30-40 minute sketches of each. Notice when each expression is made

proportions of facial features are changed. Capture lots of detail and tone.
