Fibreglass is a synthetic, man - made mesh with a loose weave, best suited to strengthen nail extensions. Fibreglass is stronger than silk. SOAKING SILK AND FIBREGLASS NAILS

Silk is a natural weave, often used to strengthen and repair the natural nail. Fibreglass is a synthetic, man - made mesh with a loose weave, best suited to strengthen nail extensions. Fibreglass is stronger than silk. Both Silk and Fibreglass nails are easy to remove, but must be removed in the proper manner so as to avoid damage to the natural nails’ nail beds.

Essential utensils and supplies (products) needed to remove Silk and Fibreglass from natural nails.

Method 1

Step 1: Lay out all utensils and accessories needed on a sanitized work surface.

Step 2: Remove any Nail Polish or Top Coat with Nail Polish Remover and cotton balls.

Step 3: Use an Edge Cutter / Tip Cutter to shorten the Silk or Fibreglasssculptures to the length of the natural nail and shape the free edge if necessary. Natural nails may also be shortened, using

an Edge / Tip Cutter.

Step 4: Use a nail brush or dusting brush to remove the filings.

Step 5: As Acetone or Nail Polish Remover isn’t good for the skin as well as the nails, cuticle cream / oil should be massaged into the cuticles.

Step 6: - Place a dappen dish and a manicure bowl, or two shallow glass bowls: one smaller than the other, next to one another.- Fill the bigger of the two bowls half with hot, almost boiling water. - Fill the smaller of the two bowls half with Acetone.- Place the smaller bowl, containing the Acetone into the bigger bowl containing the hot water.

Step 7: - Dip your nails (fingertips) in the Acetone for approximately two (2) to three (3) minutes.

- The hot water warms the Acetone, improving the removing of the Silk and Fibreglass on the nails.

Step 8: Remove the nails from the Acetone, wipe them gently with a cotton ball, soaked in Acetone.

Step 9: - If the Silk or Fibreglass is still attached to the nails, repeat Step 7.- You may repeat the procedure once or twice for removing the Silk or Fibreglass from the nails.

Step 10: - Once the Silk or Fibreglass is removed, wash the hands with Anti – Bacterial Hand-wash and warm water, using a nail brush.

- Rinse and dry the hands and nails thoroughly.

Step 11: Apply Cuticle Conditioner / Oil and massage well into the nailsand cuticles.

Step 12: - Apply hand lotion to the hands and moisturize them generously.- Moisturizing is very important as Nail Polish Remover and Acetone can dry out the skin.

As inhaling Acetone vapours may cause damage to the mucous membranes, you must use the chemical in a well-ventilated area.

Even nerves can get damaged with the product. Wear a mask to avoid inhalation of Acetone vapours. In case of any skin reaction to Acetone, contact your doctor immediately. Never file Silk or Fibreglass from a natural nail. The nail will become

thinner and will be damaged from this ill – treatment.

Step 6: Place a square of heavy duty foil under the finger.

Step 7: Use tweezers to place a small cotton ball, soaked in Acetone, onto the nail.

Step 8: Close the foil sides around the top of the finger.

Step 9: - Insert the hands into plastic bags and cover the hands with a towel. For extra heat put a hot water bottle on top of the

towel.- Keep the nails warm for approximately five (5) minutes.

Step 10: - Remove the foil from one finger to test if the Silk or

Fibreglass is loose.- If the Silk or Fibreglass has not been released from the nail, re-wrap with a cotton ball, soaked in Acetone and wait a few more minutes.- Do not force the Silk or Fibreglass from the nails.

Step 11: - Once the Silk or Fibreglass is removed, wash the hands with Anti – Bacterial Hand-wash and warm water, using a nail brush.- Rinse and dry the hands and nails thoroughly.
