Thanks for your support!

Music classes include experiences with singing, playing instruments, moving, listening and creating. The musical concepts that are studied include rhythm, melody, harmony, form, expressive qualities and style. Children will experience traditional American folk songs in addition to a variety of world music, and pieces in many styles. Lessons will lead toward note reading and music literacy.

Music lessons are fast-paced and fun, and students will need to wear comfortable clothing in order to participate fully. Primary students do a lot of moving in order to internalize the steady beat and the intermediate students will need to sit on the floor to perform on the mallet percussion instruments.

Ms. Seegars first grade class celebrated Valentine’s Day by having a Sock Hop. Students moved from station to station doing such fun things as the hula hoop,

jump rope, hopscotch, dancing the Limbo, Matchbox races, and a graffiti wall. There was even a diner station where they used a menu to place orders for such items as hot dogs, chips, popcorn, rootbeer floats, and a

50’s treat.

Mrs. Buck and Mrs. Jones kindergarten classes recently studied matter and how it changes states. They performed a science experiment using Mentos and Diet Coke.

They put a solid into a liquid and made a gas!

George Washington Visits Eglin Elementary!

Eglin second grade students were thrilled to have a special visitor come in honor of

Presidents Day. George Washington came and spoke about his life at Mount Vernon, his

time as a General in the army, his pets, and his family. Thanks to our wonderful PTO who sponsored this event for our students!

Pictured here: Eglin students enjoyed learning about George Washington.

Roller Coaster Challenges!

Mrs. Gray and Mrs. Chavers classes have been studying forces and motion. They did a science experiment using foam to make hills and ping pong balls for coasters. They made the ball roll slower and faster and created a

loop that the ball could go through. They had a lot of fun experimenting with motion,

speed, and force!

Pictured here: 2nd grade classes experiment with forces and motion.
