In Literacy: During Reading, our Year 1’s and 2’s have been learning to ask questions that relate to the meaning of the text using the 5W’s; who, what, when, where, why and how.

We have been working hard on our spelling, building word family lists, using suffixes, learning words from our writing and learning the Oxford First 100 words and 200 words.

We have been creating persuasive pieces during Writing, learning to use positive and negative emotive language to strengthen our arguments and making our position clear. We are developing an understanding of how to use words to persuade a reader to side with our position.

Special Event:During Education Week on Tuesday the 16th of May, we will be opening our classrooms to invite you to participate in an hour of ‘hands on maths’. Parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, brothers, sisters and family friends are all welcome to join in from 2:00pm – 3:00pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

In Integrated:In Integrated Studies this term, the Year 1/2’s are learning about Geography!

Recently in Integrated, we have started analysing and observing weather forecast predictions, looking at the changing temperature throughout the day.

We have been using weather charts to track and observe the ways in which weather patterns contrast, depending on the seasons.
