In the uncertain world in which we all live, we need something that can both sustain and strengthen us on a daily basis, something that will give us real hope for our lives.

In these upcoming Newsletters from the Grace Place, I want to look to the promises of God, and what His Holy Word says about them, and in doing so, I pray

God’s Promises

A Word from Pastor RonWelcome to the 1st edition of The Grace Place quarterly Newsletter! This is the latest in a series of ideas that our new members have suggested, as ways to help communication with The Grace Place family and friends.

This one comes from Cindy Fowler. Cindy developed many useful talents during her career serving as Executive Assistant for the Jekyll Island Authority, and later, as Executive Director for the Jekyll Island Foundation. Now, in retirement, we hope to continue to benefit from her vast areas of expertise!

Last year, another new member, Dottie Short, stepped up to the plate, and

that it will help each of us as we face the trials and tribulations of each day.Today, I would point to Abraham, who the Apostle Paul said: “He (Abraham) staggered not at the promises of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able to perform.” (Romans 4: 20-21)

That, my friends, is the faith you and I need. A very strong belief that what God has promised us, He is most able to perform. “My promises will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. “(Psalms 89: 1)

Let us be fully persuaded of this truth every day of our lives.

Pastor Ron

created our very own Grace Place Facebook page, which has been a resounding success. In the first year of its existence, it has already become a daily habit for many members & friends. It allows them to keep up with all the latest activities and news concerning our church.

Then there is John Waters, who initiated a Men’s Golf Fellowship, which meets one Saturday a month at one of our great local courses. We test our golfing skills and get to know our fellow members and guests. There is certainly no better way to do that than a friendly round of golf.

And lest you think that is all......Joe Fowler and Janell Squires have helped

“resuscitate” our choir which

had been “missing in action” for a while. Although the choir has only been together for a short time, they have added immeasurably to our

worship service.

So, as you can see, we have a lot of new ideas and activities going on here at The Grace Place. All of them have the intended purpose of strengthening our fellowship and service to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I hope you will enjoy these quarterly Newsletters in future months, and I would personally like to thank everyone who is making a special effort to take our church to new heights this year. With God’s blessings, “the best is yet to come for The Grace Place”.

Meet Our Newest Members

Guess who’s performing at the Grace Place every Sunday morning? It’s our new choir!

We all love to sing and raise our voices in praise to the Lord. Choir practice is held in the Church Sanctuary every Wednesday night at 6:30PM. Pastor Ron says “we are a mighty few” but we make a joyful noise unto the Lord and would love to fill up our choir loft with your smiling face and beautiful voice.

Make A Joyful Noise Unto The Lord!

We have several upcoming special worship services in the next few months. We invite you to attend, celebrate and worship with us at each of these services. Each service begins Sunday at 11:00 am.

Visit our website to learn more about each of these special worship services.

Special Services

We will learn more about each of the new members in upcoming newsletters.

We are truly excited that they have made a commitment to follow Jesus Christ with us as we walk in faith.

Together, we’re striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there’s relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need.

So, if you are looking for a church and one that will help you grow deeper in your relationship with Christ, we invite you to find a home here at The Grace Place.

No auditions, applications or resumes required. Just show up for choir practice on Wednesday nights and we will put you in a choir robe on Sunday morning.

Please contact Joe Fowler at (770) 330-7528 for additional information.

Under the direction of Felecia Johnson and Susan Carter, the youth at The Grace Place have had many adventuresome field trips and events over the past MANY YEARS, but we’re only going to focus on a few months in this newsletter! They’ve been to the Jacksonville Museum of Science and History, and were treated to a full day of interactive exhibits.

Last Fall, they visited Poppell Farms Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze in Odum.

Youth Programs!

There is always a lot of activity at The Grace Place. We have been blessed by performances of some very talented musicians. Tim & Annie Akins are great vocalists who sing old favorites and some of their own new songs with an original flair. Tim backs their vocals with a unique sound from his electric keyboard.

Father/daughter team Susan & Bob Wendel performed some beautiful duets with Bob providing mellow backup

Every summer, they plan a cool and refreshing outing at Summer Waves Water Park on Jekyll Island, where they splish, splash and slide their way into summer!

The most recent activity was the Annual Easter Egg Hunt on church grounds, where plastic eggs filled with candy were the reigning treat of the day!

A reliable source tells me that the youth are in the process of planning a trip to the Jacksonville Zoo in May, weather and health

permitting! They say this fellowship outing will be open to youth ‘of all ages’! As soon as details are finalized, they will be posted on our Website and Facebook. If you are not on the internet, and would like us to contact you and provide you with details once finalized – just let us know!

on his acoustic guitar. On another occasion, Bob Wendel provided us a moving rendition of Amazing Grace on the bagpipes.

Back for a repeat performance, Danny Barker (son of founding member Mary Barker) enthralled us with a solo performance on his clarinet.

Special birthdays are always a reason for celebration. Sister Gwen Dubs’ family hosted a breakfast birthday party for the whole church. Sister Gwen enjoyed her 80th in style at The Grace Place with family and friends.

Pastor Ron, who continues to age gracefully, finally made it to age 63. One more year and he can REALLY relate to the Beatles song lyric “when I’m 64…” We had a fun celebration for Ron at one of our Wednesday night Family Suppers. Rumor has it that he got a new golf club for his birthday. We can only hope it improves his golf game!

One of the most moving, meaningful and spiritual events we have the honor to celebrate is the Baptism of one of our new members. Cindy McLeod recently joined our church family and Pastor Ron was overjoyed that Cindy was his first Baptism since being ordained last year.

Please join us as we praise God and celebrate the

the pre-teen and teen bible study program. Over the next three months, Brother Tommy will guide the pre-teens and teens through a study of the book of Psalms. They will be learning how these particular scriptures are applicable to their daily lives.

Pre-School/ElementaryThe pre-school and elementary school youth, led by Felecia Johnson and supported by Mary Waters, Linda Watson and Lynn Dees, will be learning bible lessons through bible stories, games, songs, activities and fun craft projects!

We are fortunate to have a very active Ladies Circle at The Grace Place. This group is vital to the success of many events and activities at The Grace Place. We provide support to all church functions and activities, which include coordinating celebrations, church meals, nursery care, and youth programs to name a few.

FOOD DRIVE…A productive and successful component of our ministry is the Food Drive. On an ongoing basis, we collect non-perishable food items for the food pantry at Sparrow’s Nest in Brunswick. Members pick up a few extra items when doing their own grocery shopping and leave at church each week. We all received a great blessing during a food drive we held at Winn Dixie on Hwy 341 during the Christmas season. We accumulated a multitude of bags of groceries on that day.

CLOTHING DRIVE…When we heard there was a need for clothing for the clothes closet at Burroughs-Molette Elementary School in Brunswick, the congregation generously responded! We

Staff at Amity House provided a list of their current highest priority needs. With summer approaching, entertainment for the youth at Amity House is a priority.
