AN EXTRA SPECIAL NOTE

“SHOW ‘N TELL’SHIVON’S JOURNEY TO MOZAMBIQUE

As many of you know, this summer I spent a month visiting our friends and projects in the Sena district of Sofala Province in Mozambique.

On Tuesday September 13, I will be hosting a “show and tell” evening at the Church of Truth along with Perpetua Alfazema, Founder and Director of Kuwangisana, the organization in Mozambique that we support with our annual choir concerts providing scholarships for over the past 18 years.

The CoT doors will be open at 6:45, with a showing of the original film, Journey to Kapasseni from 7:00 - 7:50

Perpetua and Shivon’s talk and slide show will start at 8pm.  (Fine to come just for this part)

No doubt there will be some singing too!  Small donations would be appreciated to cover the cost of hall rental.

Some items from Kuwangisana will be on sale, with all proceeds going to the projects:

Beautiful little girls dresses made at Kuwangisana, Moringa Powder, a superfood supplement that is now being grown and processed at Kuwangisana.

I’d love to see you there!

~ Shivon

SPECIAL NOTES!!!!! (cont.)

GRANDMOTHERS FOR AFRICA in BRENTWOOD BAY on SEP. 11th

If you would like to welcome the Grandmothers for Africa Bikers when they arrive in Brentwood Bay on Sunday Sept. 11th, 12 noon,

Yves & Claire (Monday Tenor & Soprano) invite you to join them at the dock and waive, sing, cheer as the Grandmothers unload. Meet at 11:45 a.m. at the foot of Verdier Avenue (parking along Verdier on the downhill side).

Yves and Claire have made it a tradition the last few years and were told that the Grandmothers appreciate the support and encouragement on their last section of the journey.

It saves driving to Victoria, while still being part of the welcome, if you can`t make it to the SWAT.

COMMUNITY NETWORKINGSITTER FOF LITTLE KIDS WANTED

A couple of folks wanting to join the choir need a responsible teen to take care of one or two children while they sing. I can’t be more specific than that at the moment as they didn’t get the full information to me in time to go out in this newsletter (probably due to my email problems.

If you know a responsible young person who would be interested in earning a couple of hours’ worth of income on a Tuesday or Thursday evening please ask them to contact me with their contact information. Once I am back in touch with the couple I will pass the information on to them.
