GPOD Announces Global Partnership with Dale Carnegie Training

February 13th, 2017 – Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – Global Peace Officer Development (GPOD™) and Dale Carnegie Training today unveiled a new course to help law enforcement officers increase community confidence and trust. The customized program, entitled Dale Carnegie Training® for Law Enforcement, will begin rolling out in Spring 2017.

Launched and tested in early 2016 by law enforcement and business leaders in Minneapolis/St. Paul, GPOD emerged in the wake of civil unrest in Ferguson, MO, and Gallup research showing U.S. confidence in police had hit a 22-year low. The GPOD mission is to develop and support peace officers to help increase community confidence in law enforcement from 50% to 75% and beyond.

Through its global partnership with Dale Carnegie Training, GPOD will leverage expertise honed by more than 100 years of customer-focused training from the business world, delivered across 90 countries and in all 50 states. Founded in 1912, Dale Carnegie has grown from one man’s belief in the power of self-improvement to a global program with eight (8) million graduates in 25 languages.

“Law enforcement officers are well trained experts in tactical policing skills but there is limited funding to support the human relations side of professional development training,” said Brian Convery, co-founder of GPOD and a retired police Sergeant with more than 20 years in Minnesota law enforcement. “This training will enable peace officers to enhance soft skills, increase emotional intelligence and cultivate a culture of customer service to further build community trust.”

While Dale Carnegie Training is offering a substantial discount and pledging a number of GPOD related scholarships, a full 20 to 24 hours of accredited, high quality training still costs as much as $1,500 per seat for the Dale Carnegie Training® for Law Enforcement course.

“GPOD depends on corporate sponsorships and was created so companies can support police and the community while receiving a tax benefit,” said Ken McMahon, co-founder of GPOD and a business executive based in Minneapolis/St. Paul. “In this high stakes environment, business and law enforcement leaders are confident that professional, customer-focused training programs offered by Dale Carnegie can create positive change for police officers and the community.”

Fiscal sponsorship for GPOD is provided by GTS Educational Events, a federally tax-exempt 501c3 organization. Founded in 1976, St. Paul-based GTS serves the educational needs of government and civic professionals. “We look forward to supporting both law enforcement and the

I don’t know if it is possible to change this quote to read:“In this high stakes environment, business and law enforcement leaders are confident that the professional customer-focused training programs offered by Dale Carnegie will create positive change for etc….”
Michelle Bonterre, 02/06/17,
What in Ferguson, MO. It would make sense to say something along the lines of Community Protests, or unrest, or rioting….otherwise it doesn’t make sense.
