In team sports, the number, often referred to as the uniform number, squad number, jersey number, shirt number, sweater number, or similar (with such naming differences varying by sport and region) is the number worn on a player's uniform, to identify and distinguish each player (and sometimes others, such as coaches and officials) from others wearing the same or similar uniforms. The number is typically displayed on the rear of the jersey, often accompanied by the surname. Sometimes it is also displayed on the front and/or sleeves, or on the player's shorts or headgear. It is used to identify the player to officials, other players, official scorers, and spectators; in some sports, it is also indicative of the player's position.

Class 9th of a School has two sections A and B having same number of students in each section. All 2-digit numbers are sufficient to allot jersey numbers to all the students of class 9 th for their Physical Education Period. Students of section 9A were allotted an Even jersey number while the students of class 9B were allotted an Odd jersey number. Chits of each number are made. Students are asked to pick the chit one by one.

Based upon the given information answer the following questions

Question 1: How many students are there in class 9th?100909989

Question 2: Ruhi of class 9B loves number 8. What is the probability that she can pick number so as to get the sum of the jersey number as 8 (1+7=8)?4/458/458/994/99

Perhaps the most exciting type of meeting for a company to hold, brainstorming or innovation meetings let creative energy flow. There are meetings where ideas, both good and bad, are formed, pitched, and rejected or built upon. Truly effective innovation meetings are often where an organization’s most successful projects are born.

Once the meeting begins and goals are laid out, pay attention to who participates and who is quiet. Make an effort to draw ideas out from everyone, and be sure to take great notes—the ideas may start flying too fast to remember them all!

A company for the launch of its new product is conducting a Brainstorming meeting. Of the 450 participants in the meeting, 240 are female and 1/4 of the female and 3/5 of the male participants are less than thirty years old.

Based upon the given information answer the following questions.

Question 1: What is the probability of selecting a male participant to inaugurate the meeting?

Question 2: If a team leader is to be selected from the participants. What is the probability of selecting a female team leader of age less than 30 years?

Question 3: If 4 more female participants of age less than 30 years and 5 more male participants of age more than 30 years joins the meeting. What is the probability of selecting a male participant of age less than 30 years to give vote of thanks?

Question 4: What is the probability of selecting a female participant of age more than 30 years to conclude the meeting?

Bluff is a card game where the players aim to get rid of all of their cards. It is a game of deception, with cards being played face-down and players being permitted to lie about the cards they have played. Two Friends are playing a game of bluff, each player has to draw a card, view it and place the card face-down. Player calls out the name of the picked card which may be true or bluff. ( For example: Player draws an ace card of spade and names it king of spade. Here the player is bluffing). After each round card is placed back into the deck of cards. If the opponent player calls the bluff card’s name true, the opponent player gets 2 points. If an opponent skips the call of the player, the player gets 1 point.

Based upon the given information answer the following questions

Question 1: A card is drawn by player 1 from a well shuffled deck of 52 playing cards. He said, “It is a jack of heart”. Find the probability of him bluffing.

Question 2: A card is drawn by player 2 from a well shuffled deck of 52 playing cards. He said, “It is an ace”. Find the probability of him telling the card’s real name.

The incidence of female foeticide in India is increasing day by day. This may be connected to the dowry system in India where dowry deaths occur when a girl is seen as a financial burden. In the year 1994, the Indian government has passed Pre Conception and Pre Natal Diagnostic Technique Act (PCPNDT) to ban prenatal sex screening and lower down the difference in sex ratio.

A survey was conducted to study the sex ratio in rural areas, in which about 1000 families with 3 children were surveyed and data collected was as given below:

No. of Girl child 0 1 2 3

No. of Families 185 375 325 115

In humans, several coronaviruses are known the most recently discovered coronavirus causes Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19). Sumit’s parents are quarantine in a school for 14 days in a one section school having classes 1 to 12. The Novel coronavirus (Covid-19) cases have been confirmed in many countries due to which the World Health Organisation (WHO) on 11.03.2020 has characterized Covid-19 as Pandemic(an epidemic occurring worldwide and usually affecting a large number of people). The most common diagnosis in severe Covid-19 patients is severe pneumonia. Although for most people Covid-19 causes only mild illness, it can make some people very ill. More rarely, the disease can be fatal. Older people and those with pre-existing medical conditions appear to be more vulnerable.

In a survey in July 2020 the percent share of Covid -19 deaths on the basis of age was found to be as given below:

Age (years) ≤14 15-29 30-44 45-59 60-74 ≥75

Pollution from tyre wear can be thousand times worse than what comes out of a car’s exhaust. The government’s Air Quality Expert Group said particles from brake wear, tyre wear and road surface wear directly contribute to well over half of particle pollution from road transport. Fragments of micro plastics from tyres, road surfaces and brakes will also flow into rivers, and ultimately into the sea. Over 300 million tires are scrapped per year at a rate of 1.1 tire/person/year leading to landfill space, which is becoming more and more scarce as tires do not biodegrade but are 100% recyclable. The high quality of steel and rubber found in tires are easily reintegrated into the manufacturing process tyre is 43% rubber and rest steel.. The global implications of reducing waste tires are many such as improved socio-economic justice, reducing landfill, reducing carbon footprint and creating a safer society.

A survey was done for finding out the distance covered by a tyre before it is replaced.

An analysis by India spend showed that road accidents in India cost about 3-5% of gross domestic product every year, and are avoidable if India could improve its roads and city planning, train its drivers better, and enforce traffic laws properly. On the basis of a data from Road Accidents in India 2018, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways published a report which stated that India’s young, productive population, aged 18-45 years, is involved in 70% of road accidents. Some of the common behaviour of humans which results in accident are over speeding, drunken driving, distraction to drivers, red light jumping, avoiding safety gears (like seat belt ,helmet), non-adherence to lane driving and overtaking in wrong manner. The Indian Government recently updated the traffic rules in India with the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act 2019. The new traffic rules came into effect from 1st September 2019. We hope that the new rules will bring some order to the bad traffic conditions in most Indian metro cities. The stiff penalties will deter unruly drivers and riders from breaking traffic rules and ensure safety on the road for everyone.

An insurance company randomly selected 600 drivers and studied the relationship between age and the accidents. The data obtained was as follows

Age (years) < 18 18-25 25-35 35-45 45-60 ≥ 60 Age not known

Accidents (per year) 40 132 160 128 88 36 16

Based upon above data answer the following questions:

1. What will be the probability of having the accidents in one year in the age group 18-25?(a) 0.23 (b) 0.12 (c) 0.22 (d) 0.20

Germination is the process of seeds developing into new plants. Various environmental conditions trigger the seed to grow and is usually determined by how deep the seed is planted, water availability, and temperature. In the first step to germination, the water is drawn from the soil and absorbed by the seed, a process called imbibitions. The water activates special proteins, called enzymes, which begin the process of seed growth. First the seed grows a root to access water underground. Next, the shoots, or growth above ground, begin to appear. The seed sends a shoot towards the surface, where it will grow leaves to harvest energy from the sun. The leaves continue to grow towards the light source in a process called photo morphogenesis. All fully developed seeds contain an embryo and, in most plant species some store of food reserves, wrapped in a seed coat. Some plants produce varying numbers of seeds that lack embryos; these are empty seeds which never germinate. Dormant seeds are viable seeds that do not germinate because they require specific internal or environmental stimuli to resume growth.

To study the germination characteristics of an hybrid seed a seed germination laboratory randomly selected 100 seeds from each of the 5 bags of seeds, these seeds were standardized under favorable conditions of germination for 25 days and the data was maintained for the number of seeds which had germinated as follows:

Bag 1 2 3 4 5

No. of seeds germinated 80 96 84 78 82
