Ways to develop your writing:

Use adverbs in your writing (quickly/slowly/calmly/gently etc.) Use conjunctions (because, and, but, when, if..) Include adjectives or expanded noun phrases (The snail and the whale

swam in the cold, shimmering ocean.) Use different sentence openers

For example;

One day, the snail sat on her rock, which was as black as soot. She gazed at the sea and wanted to travel the world. A few hours later, she wrote a slimy message on the rock asking for a lift. In the evening, an enormous humpback whale appeared and sang a wonderful song.
