Interdisciplinary Learning – Special Journeys We will consolidate our learning on natural disasters and then begin our new topic on ‘Special Journeys’. The children will learn about different religious pilgrimages from all over the world, as well as having opportunities to track their own journey through quarantine. The children will be encouraged to share their ideas on how we will link this to music, drama, art and writing. Science The children will get the opportunity to experiment, plan investigations and write up their findings. Ms Clouston has put together a progressive grid focussing on food technologies, senses, forces, dissolving, sinking and floating. The children will be encouraged to develop their curiosity while developing important skills for the future. What I will be learning in P Term 4 2020 Successful Learner Effective Contributor Confident Individual Responsible Citizen Health & Wellbeing Focusing on taking care of our health and wellbeing, in what is a challenging time, is more important than ever. Through our new unit of The Building Resilience programme – we will focus on ‘Making a Difference’ in our own lives and the lives of others. New activities will be added weekly to Teams and children will be involved in forward planning activities which are meaningful to them. Literacy – Writing We will continue to provide challenges which will develop and consolidate different styles of writing with a strong emphasis on enjoyment and choice. We will continue to use the Nelson Spelling Skills books to provide a structured approach to developing successful spelling strategies. Literacy - Talking and Listening We will continue to provide opportunities across all subject areas for children to share their thoughts, opinions, and work. The children will also have a chance to listen to their teachers speaking on videos uploaded providing feedback and updates throughout quarantine. Numeracy – Money, Measure, Time Children will look at the benefits and risks of using bank cards and understand the importance of budgeting. They will use electronic timetables to plan events and make time calculations. The children will explain how they can find area, perimeter, and volume of both 2D and 3D shapes. Maths Consolidate all number processes. We will also explore various famous mathematicians and present our findings on how mathematics impacts on the world and the important part it has played in the creation of important inventions. PE This term we will focus on being active by providing a range of different activities weekly. French/German A range of different French and German activities will be provided to encourage
