LEVEL 2 - THE INTERMEDIATE CAN:

✓ Start an on-road journey

✓ Finish an on road journey

✓ Pass parked or slower moving vehicles

✓ Pass side roads

✓ Turn right into a major road and left into a minor road

✓ Make a U-turn

✓ Turn left into a major road and right into a minor road

✓ Take the lane when they need to

✓ Decide if a cycle lane will help their journey

Level 2 training takes place on quite

Children who achieve the standard and are registered for Bikeability through school will receive the Orange Level 2

Badge and Certificate

LEVEL 3 - COMPETENT CYCLISTS CAN:

✓ Demonstrate their

understanding of how to use roundabouts

✓ Use junctions controlled by traffic lights

✓ Use multi-lane roads and turn off and into them

✓ Understand filtering and can

decide when to filter and when to wait

Level 3 training takes place usually on

a 1-2-1 basis along busy and complex routes.

Children who achieve the standard and

are registered for Bikeability through school will receive the Green Level 3 Badge and Certificate.

Cycle Divas makes the following assumptions about the above:

The same outcomes for bike control and handling are expected from adults and children

Clients are not tested, but assessed and progress through to the next level only they have consistently demonstrated they have achieved the overall outcomes for each level.

Where Level 1 training is provided to children, Cycle Divas has made it explicitly clear to parents, legal guardians and teachers that the students have not been taught to ride on the road and that this is not the aim of the course.
